Here's the Gen 7 Cup cars
    https://www.jayski.com/2021/05/05/manufacturers-unveil-nascar-next-gen-cars/
Unfortunately with this there will ultimately be layoffs following the final race of this season as teams will not need chassis or body fabricators as well as other jobs that will now be handled suppliers https://m.nascar.com/news-media/2021/05/05/vendors-parts-suppliers-list-next-gen-car/
Wonder how long it will be before they move to a single engine manufacturer like they did in the truck series.

That's funny Hoss but folks in Hazzard County don't really care about golf so go ahead and enjoy the win. LOL
Now, if there was a race that gave out a Rider Cup we might be interested. (or a Driver Cup would be even better)
Poor Garrett. I turned the football thread into a baseball thread and now the NASCAR thread has become a golf thread.

Thanks for the update GARRETT. I see your fave did pretty well.
Okay, I apologize for being grumpy but my Pirates and Steelers are to blame.
In an odd way to say I'm sorry....let me just post this.....
Congratulations to your BEARS for winnning. My steelers lost.
    Okay, now back to NASCAR.......

To answer your question.....no I'm not happy.....and I won't be until DAVID RAGEN (all capitals) wins more championships in a row than JJ and garrett's (no capitals) thread becomes the DAVID RAGEN thread. Is that too much to ask for?
    GO DAVID RAGEN!!!!.....beat jeff gordon

Thanks Garrett. I've never seen you put the number one driver in all capital letters. Hmmm, I wonder why. Oh yea, it's 'cause you like the guy and he hasn't been at the top very much this year.
I see David Ragen didn't get all capital letters even though that's probably been his best starting position all year.
I'm starting to sense a little favoritism in your NASCAR posts.
(but I guess I have to put up with it or you'll get mad at me and stop posting)

Nascar Officials once again created controversy with cautions in both the Truck and Cup series races. In the truck race they seemed to randomly call a caution for spinning trucks one time but not other times. In the Cup series with 30 laps to go  it was for a tire that was neither on the pit lane or anywhere near the track. Even Jeff Gordon, Clint Bowyer and Mike Joy said there was no need for the caution just before the yellow flag was thrown.
Surprise surprise Kyle Busch won the Buschy McBusch 400 race after Nascar's BS tire caution caused multiple wrecks and cautions. Kyle Larson dominated the race and had a big cushion to the 2nd place car before the infamous tire caution. On the restart Denny Hamlin got the lead but couldn't hold off a hard charging Larson and eventually brushed the wall which brought out another caution. On the next restart they never even got a lap in before another wreck and caution. Kyle Larson ended up finishing 19th.
    Top 10
    1 Kyle Busch
    2 Kevin Harvick
    3 Brad Keselowski
    4 Matt Dibenedetto
    5 Chase Elliot
    6 Martin Truex jr
    7 Tyler Reddick
    8 Chris Buescher
    9 William Byron
    10 Austin Dillon
Onto throwback weekend at Darlington next weekend. Both races will be on FS1 so more than likely there will be a ratings drop from last year's race.
On a sad note Bobby Unser passed away Sunday. He won the Indy 500 3 times in 3 decades, one of only 2 drivers to do that. He also made 3 starts in the Cup series in car numbers 13, 99 and 41. His best finish was 4th at Riverside in 1973. You also might remember him from the Nascar broadcast booth where he worked alongside Benny Parsons from 1986-1992.

I can see why they'd want an exciting finish, but the way you describe it, it sounds more like manipulating the result.

The main controversy at this week's F1 was varying enforcement of the track limit rules. Due to travel restrictions, some races are taking place at circuits which aren't usually on the F1 calendar. Especially on circuits where they host motorcycle racing, the outside of corners are paved for safety rather than being gravel or grass. To prevent the drivers from gaining an unfair advantage by taking a wide line on corners, at least one wheel must remain within the white line which marks the edge of the track. During qualifying, drivers had their times deleted if they exceeded the track limits, and Max Verstappen had his fastest lap deleted for the same reason. The commentators were suggesting that it would be better if they could remove the advantage of going wide. I'm not sure that there's an easy solution.

Happy anniversary! I loved that movie! Predictable but fun. Great special effects.,
The local dirt track opens on Friday. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm recording the final race of Supercross dirt bikes tonight.

I'm kinda depressed about David Ragen not being up there anymore. I understand it's because he switched teams and all but still it's getting me down and not making the season as interesting as it was last year.
Hey Garrett, you're pretty well connected in the world of NASCAR. Next time you're in one of the meetings at NASCAR corporate headquarters could you tell them my story and maybe use your influence to get Ragen up there in the top 10? They don't take bribes do they?.....'cause I have $152 in my savings if that will help.

I sure hope they don't start random drug testing for members of the HazzardNet. I'm not sure what Brian spiked the egg nog with at our last Christmas party but I think it's still in my system.

But when they play the Pirates you're my biggest enemy. Grrrrrrr!

    LOL
You're a Cubs fan and I'm a Pirates fan so we both know the value of having an alternate team that we like BUT that doesn't mean we like them more and doesn't mean we'd root for them if they were facing our favorite team.
After all these years of a bitter, hateful sports rivalry here on the HazzardNet it's nice to know we finally found common ground and both have JJ as our second favorite driver. If you're really interested in ending this insanity of our constant ugly feuding I suggest that you immediately abandon Jeff Gordon as your favorite and make David Ragen your #1 driver. If you don't, I'll have to assume that you're interested in keeping our rivalry alive.
Also, you should immediately dump the Cubs for the Pirates. That would go a long ways in proving you're serious about wanting to live in a peaceful environment here on the HazzardNet.
And one more thing, you should bench your best players on the weeks that you're playing me in our fantasy baseball league.
I hope I'm not being unreasonable. If you think I am that's proof that you're unreasonable.

Okay, we have a contest. It's best out of three. So far you're leading in fantasy baseball and I'm leading in the Pirates-Cubs series. It looks like this Memorial Day battle will be settled on the racetrack....sounds like the makings of a Dukes episode.

One more for today.  For the filming, all identification logos/scripts on the vehicles were removed (i.e. all the "Charger" logos, the "FORD" from above the grill and tailgate on Jesse's truck, "PLYMOUTH" and "DODGE" from the Sheriff cars, etc).  Most of this is easy for Daisy's Plymouth, except for the grill and in front of the hood.  We'll deal with the grill later.
For the removed emblem in front of the hood, there is a recessed area that was left untouched once the emblems were removed, and then painted over.

I tried removing the bit inside the recessed circle with a roto-drill, but I couldn't make it into a flat disc surface.  So I cut a tiny circle of sandpaper, smaller than the target area, and glued it to the end of a toothpick.  This, with a tiny dab of putty, exactly did the trick.

There was CONSIDERABLE bodywork to be done with the Front Body Pan; this appears seamless with the rest of the body, so I wanted to install it before painting.  The rear one will be blended in after assembly and carefully retouched.  Additionally, the Front bit didn't completely fit, and the trim around the wheel well had to be rebuilt onto it and everything blended together.

Hollywood almost always uses more than one copy of any featured vehicle due to tight filming schedules plus mechanical issues.  Some features on these cars are often fictional.  This said, in my Dukes builds I try to balance or combine the sometimes fictional features with reality.
I went through all the episodes in question searching for even one photo of the hood up on Daisy's car, maybe parked in front of the farm with the boys doing some minor maintenance.  Couldn't even find one; this actually made things easier; it means whatever I do can't be proven wrong.  I did find one scene with the hood up on the earlier-used '74, from the episode "Limo One is Missing," but of course it was the wrong car, and we couldn't see much anyway.
It was suggested that Daisy's character might have driven the Plymouth variant with the smaller engine, with a blue engine block.  I'm not sure if any muscle car kits actually offer smaller, "tamed" small-block engines, so I went with what I had.  Had to strip the paint and redo it in a more correct color.
I added a few details for the wiring, plus an aftermarket set of belts and pulleys.  Alternator came from Revell's '68/69 Charger.  There will be more hoses and wiring added after it's installed.

I also removed the molded-on battery and water reservoir from the engine bay.  See, the trouble with molded-on details is that they LOOK molded on, and therefore more toylike.  So once removed their respective areas were rebuilt.  Those specific items will have separate items installed to replace them.
