Congratulations to Meadowmufn on this fantastic accomplishment! What a labor of love it has been. So many ups and downs. Since MM is such a big Rosco fan I'm sure having James Best in the chat room was a huge up....and talking about his death was just the opposite. Friday will mark my 17th year here. I hadn't used a computer in my life and when my daughter said you can find anything on the internet, the first thing I asked was "Even Dukes of Hazzard stuff?" She showed me right away and when HazzardNet came up I was hooked.....still am. Best website on the internet! And of course the greatest part of it is all the friends I made. Long live Hazzard County!4 points -

I'd never even heard that anyone thought picnic was a racist word. It appears that Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Robert McKinzie made the claim in 2019 before it was subsequently debunked by professors of language and African-American history. Yet another case of someone jumping to conclusions without all the facts. At least Cadbury's won't have have to change the name of their chocolate bar on the this side of the Atlantic!4 points

I wonder what they would do if you parked a General Lee in the driveway. They couldn't say it represented racism. The car represents The Dukes of Hazzard and there wasn't a single racist scene in 7 seasons.4 points -

The first race of the F1 season took place yesterday in Bahrain, and it was pretty much a continuation of last year. Max Verstappen took pole and went on to win the race with his Red Bull team mate in second (albeit 22 seconds back). Behind them, the Ferraris, McLarens and Mercedes were all pretty close, although Mercedes had a battery issue which meant they couldn't show their full potential. Only a week to go until the next race in Saudi Arabia.4 points

I saw Gordon a while back on you Tube and he was disguised with a hat, moustache etc. and test drove a car with the salesman inside. Gordon was driving wild and the salesman , not knowing it was him, was yelling, " Stop this car, let me out of here! You're going to pay for this car!" Then when they got back to the dealership he jumped out and everybody was laughing and then he saw Gordon peel off his moustache and he saw who it was! LOL!4 points -

We have to wait until February 29th for the start of the F1 season. I don't remember any previous Grands Prix being on a Saturday (they're always on a Sunday unless they're cancelled - there are no delayed races like there are in NASCAR), but the first two of this season, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, are on a Saturday this season due to Ramadan. We also get 24 races 2024 - the most ever. I just hope that the other teams have caught up with Red Bull over the winter so we get some racing this year!4 points -

Awesome. Thanks for the reminder Boss. I'm not sure which episode I saw first but I missed the opener. Everybody was talking about how good it was. I was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina going to USMC truck driving school and watched it in the rec room. Loved it right away. Had no idea 45 years later it would be such a big part of my life. No other TV show ever had this impact on me. In fact, nothing has except God, family friends and that sort of thing.4 points -

Dear Diary Blooper
Burl Tolliver and 3 others reacted to HossC for a topic
It wasn't Doc Petticord, but it looked a bit like him. Pat (Patrick) Crenshaw played Doc Petticord in 'Double Sting' (season 1), but his character was only named "Doctor" in 'And in This Corner, Luke Duke' (season 3) . Parley Baer started playing Doc Appleby in 'Coltrane vs. Duke' near the start of season 4, but then didn't appear again until 'Too Many Roscos' near the start of season 6. In 'Dear Diary' (near the end of season 4), Doc Appleby was played by a different actor, Elmore Vincent. This was his only appearance in Dukes and one of only 29 acting credits between 1956 and 1983.4 points -

R. M. S. Titanic might claim more lives
Hobie Hartkins and 3 others reacted to HossC for a topic
James Cameron's company does have submarines and submersibles (there's a difference) that can safely take the pressure and even go the bottom of the Mariana Trench which is nearly three times deeper than the Titanic. According to this article, he's visited the wreck 33 times. The problem with OceanGate is that their vessel was insufficiently tested and uncertified, and many experts had expressed doubts about its construction. You can already take a virtual tour of the Titanic without leaving your front room (see video below), but now that it's possible to visit in person, some rich people are always going to want to say they've actually been there. The second video shows a very detailed 1:350 model of the wreckage with an explanation of which parts survive and which bits don't.4 points -
It was still sane when Denver’s/Uncle Jesse’s generation was still alive...but, sadly we are losing most of them, as time moves on. He was the same age as one of my grandmas...she passed away just two years after him, in ‘99. I can’t wrap my head around the idea they’d ‘be’...103 (little rhyme there)! RIP, God bless, and miss you both!4 points

I just returned home from south of the Mason Dixon line (barely)...Winchester Virginia.....home of Patsy Cline. What a historic town. Went back and forth on which side they were on in the war. You sure see a lot more Confederate flags down there. Folks there are smarter than us Yankees. They know the Confederate flag represents Southern pride and not racism. If my roots weren't so deep I'd move South. I'm definitely southern at heart.3 points -

Yeah Larson held off Reddick thanks to NASCAR's inability to fix the 1.5 mile package. Once the 2nd car catches the lead car and is stuck in its wake there's no passing the lead car. Imo they should just make all tracks minus Daytona, Talladega and Atlanta 750+ horsepower and get rid of some of the down force. Garret you didn't miss much. It wasn't that exciting except on the restarts.3 points -

I’m sorry, but I’ve always thought it was unrealistic & strange that Boss Hogg’s dad is #1: still alive, but #2: he basically looks to be barely a few years older than Boss. Also, he doesn’t look like the kind of man who would have gotten with Boss’ momma, under any circumstances —going by what we know she looked like, with her portrait Boss has (just sayin’).3 points

Um...have you seen Bo Duke? LOL. Actually I watched it as a kid and enjoyed it. Had a hard time understanding why it wasn't on TV anymore. Then when it came back on TV, I was a big CHiPs fan at the time and seen each episode several times, so I abandoned Ponch and Jon and went to Bo and Luke. I remember being appreciative of hearing of their friendship off the screen as well as on. Erik Estrada (Ponch) and Larry Wilcox (Jon) didn't get along in real life and was kinda disappointed when I heard that. LOL. And then that led to NASCAR and Jeff Gordon. HA. I'm not a normal girl. LOL I was more into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles than I ever was in Barbie and am a huge sports fan.3 points -

It's perfectly acceptable to pick that way. Miz Tisdale is my favorite women on the show because she won a big time award too. She was voted "Sexiest senior citizen postrmistess who rides wheelies on her postal route." She has won it 45 years in a row now. I bet Gordon has never won anything 45 years in a row.3 points -

Thanks for all the love and support everybody. The HazzardNet is normally such a fun place and I felt bad about injecting this into it but I needed all the support I can get.....and folks here have always been like family. I have so much help from others that I would prefer to wrap this thread up so I can return to normalcy here on the HN. Of course real life will never be normal. I'll never heal. Normally popping a Dukes episode in fixes everything but not this time. But it certainly can be a small part of the therapy I'll need. Thanks again. I love you folks. ❤3 points -

"Now, anybody that don't think that Boss Hogg was the one that hired them boys to rob the bank would buy beach property in IDAHO." As Skipper says, it's the same car (as far as I remember, these grabs are both from 'Duke vs Duke'): In my 'Other Vehicles of Hazzard' fanart thread, I showed how they used at least two different cars each time. I also suggested that they may have repainted the Chevelle(s) as Petey Willis' racecar in 'Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke'. "When Lulu left for the fat farm, she sent her skinny sister, Hortense, to Hazzard to keep an eye on old Boss."3 points

I just realized that the last picture that's supposed to show the rear mounts was a repeat of the front mount. I can't go back and edit it anymore, but anyway, here's the picture of how the rear interior mount is done with the painted washer at the bottom of the body post:3 points -
I don't think that information is on HazzardNet, but we had a member looking for a Vance doll in a 2012 thread, and that contains a link to an article at megomuseum.com which gives very detailed descriptions of the various Dukes dolls. It includes how they just made new heads for Coy and Vance and stuck with the original Bo and Luke packaging.3 points

ok, i am using the team bluegroove body, so lexan as well, and the only complaint that i have is that the tamiya paint is a little sparkly, not as flat chrome as it should be, but other then that it does look like metal/chrome bumpers, also how do you make pictures small enough to upload without cropping into nothing! haha3 points
