Episode: One Armed Bandits

If you don't have that episode you can still join us for the party.

I thought Friday at 8 would be a cool idea since that's when the show was originally on. It would sure bring back that old Hazzard Christmas feeling knowing other people are watching that episode at the exact same time. Even if only 2 or 3 folks can go along with this, I'd still like to do it. Hopefully we can get more than that though. I'll bring the egg nog (woops, maybe that's not a good idea....Lori, Laura and General Grant already think I drink way too much of that stuff)

Once a month or more, Dukes fans get together at HazzardNet at the same time across the globe to watch the same episode of Dukes of Hazzard on DVD and share comments about the show.

If you'd like to participate in our Dukes of Hazzard chat alongs:

1. Check the event schedule to see when the next event is.

2. A half hour or so before the event, make sure you have your DVD ready to go.

3. On the day of the event, make sure to show up at least 15 minutes ahead of time and "check in" to the HazzardNet chatroom and say howdy to let us know you're ready to go.

4. The host will let everyone know a particular scene in the beginning to cue your dvd to. When the host posts the command to start playing, press play on your dvd player.

5. After viewing starts, post your comments on the show. Or if this is your first event and you just want to get accustomed to it, sit back and watch what others are saying.

6. Have fun!

In the past, the Saturday around 8pm eastern (5 pacific) seems to work pretty well.

I'm gonna suggest we try for this Saturday the 27th startin' at 8pm. Also, let's try another chat on Wednesday the 31st startin' at 8pm. There's no closing hour...I figure the thing can go on until there's one person left standin' in the chat room. ROFL.

Don't worry if you can't make one or both chats. I wanna see how well these two chats go and perhaps we'll set up something on a more regular basis, and different time slots. Remember too..you can set a date and time for chat as well. =)

A few days ago, after saving a lot, (my economic situation is very complicated), so I bought all seven seasons, but I had a thankless surprise: They come seven seasons in the original language, without subtitles or doblajes. The seller told me that was the original version, which sold in the United States and therefore come with no subtitles, and that could be downloaded from the Internet, but after much searching I could not find anything.

I want to know if any of you could send me (haiek@hotmail.com) subtitles in Spanish for seven seasons or tell me where i can find them.

Because of my poor economy, I will never be able to know the "General Lee" live, or Mr Tom Wopat, or Mr John Schneider, or Mr James Best, all I have for them is nothing more or nothing less than the original series, but I do not speak English! Please someone help me!

An Idea hit me the other night when I was chatting with what seemed like half of Hazzard County!

What do y'all think about having a weekly chat? For instance, every Sunday night at 7:00 pm CST. We can all try to agree on a day and time, if anyone thinks this is worth pursuing. If not, I apologize for the waste of space.

Hope to hear any comments or suggestions.

What if we all got together and watched an episode together, chatting while we watched it. Bo James and I have done that before and, if you can get everyone to start at the same time, it's quite fun. Kind of like doing your own commentaries...

My thought was maybe we could take a vote of what episode to watch by those who are interested...and find a time that works for everyone and set it up....

Okay, seriously, as more and more of you are using the chat room (which is great!) we thought we oughta put together a lil' tutorial for y'all. Our chat room is very easy to use but perhaps some of you out there are not aware of the functions that are available to you.

Creating Rooms

There are currently four rooms set up in our chat. The Lobby, The Boar's Nest, The Garage and The Reading Room.

Anyone of these rooms can be used for public chats. However, if you would like to set up a private room, you can do that.

At the top of the chat window there is a drop down menu called "Roam." Click on that and you'll see three tabs, Rooms, Creation, Users.

Click on the Creation tab. Give your new room a name. You can also give it a password. If you do that then anyone who wants to enter the room must have the password to get in. So it would be wise to PM the password to those folks you want to come in.

Please remember that the Lobby, Boar's Nest, Garage and Reading Room are public and can not be locked to other users.

Also please note that any room you create is temporary, once all users have left, the room will no longer exist. You will have to create it again if you wish to use it again.

Ignoring Users

If a user is bothering you in a public chat room, there is a very simple solution. It's called "IGNORE"

Simply done, right click on the user name in the left hand panel and click on ignore. All messages sent by this user to the chat room you will not have to see or deal with. (Other users may still see the messages until such time as they chose to ignore the offending user).

Now if you happen to be the user that folks are starting to ignore, maybe you need to think twice about what you're doing and learn to play nice.

If an Admin happens to be in the room at the time, remember, we can toss your posterior out and not let you back in until such time that we want to let you back in.

One on One Private Chat

To use this feature, simply right click on the user's name in the left hand panel and click on "private chat" A new window will appear, similar to a AIM type window. Private chat conversations are not seen by others in the room.

Role Playing Rooms

We have also recently created two role playing rooms. One for "Extra" characters (made up and/or established fanfic characters) and "Series" characters (made up of original characters from the show). Please note that these rooms are public rooms but the rules are pretty simple.

"Extra" Room -- This is pretty open ended and you can play your own character or one from the series. Please note that series characters are on a first come first serve basis. Whoever gets there first and claims that series character is it for that role play. As for "Extra" characters please remember that fanfic characters can NOT be used without an author's permission. So if you show up wanting to be "MaryAnne" or "Brian" and you're not MaryAnne or Brian - you're gonna be in big trouble.

"Series" Room -- This is for original characters from the series only (Bo, Luke, Daisy, Jesse, Boss, Rosco, Cooter, Enos, Cletus, Emery Potter, Miz Tisdale, ect, ect...). Characters are assigned on a first come first serve basis. No fighting over who can play what character. If a character is taken, take another one OR just agree to hang around and watch and be one of the unnamed "townfolk."
