Did you ever notice that Cooter likes to charge $35.42 for almost all of the small things Example-To get Rosco's car door fixed in Deputy Dukes it cost $35.42 and in The meeting he charged Boss $35.42 to store and clean up th limo's

Anyone else here have Ben Jones' music CDs? I'd like to hear what others think!

I recently picked up both ("Southern to the Bone" and "One For The Younguns") at Cooter's Place in Gatlinburg.

The music is mix of covers and original songs, most with Ben himself singing the lead. There are some Dukes references here and there in some of the songs, but otherwise its music that would be right at home in Hazzard: bluegrass, rockabilly, ballads, rhythm and blues, country.

I had the impression that the "Younguns" CD was kids songs, but really its just more music similar what's on the first CD. The best part about the CD for Dukes fans is that it contains Ben's rendition of 'Good Ol Boys'. It also contains a song called "Cooter's Place" that sounds like it was meant to be the theme song for Ben's stores (or maybe a Cooter spin off series?).

Both CDs can be purchased individually or together at a discount at cootersplace.com

You can listen to samples of 'Southern' on Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008A1VN16/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp

I recommend both CDS for any Dukes fans- its not the kind of silly stuff from the 80s Dukes 'sountrack' record.

Here is the review I put on Amazon for 'Southern To The Bone:

Honest, Southern and pleasant to listen to- like spending some time with an old friend. Mr. Jones was probably the most authentic part of the Dukes of Hazzard cultural phenomenon and you can hear that come through in his music. Some original stuff, some covers, but all clearly done with love, and not some overly polished 'Dukes' merchandise record from the studio marketing department. Just what it should be- fun!

HazzardNet officially does not get into political stuff. Just so ya know. I can tell ya that if we did, the first thing that would happen is MeadowMufn and I would probably be in a Boar's Nest-style fight.

That said in disclaimer, this article features Ben Jones and some insights into his past political career. Gotta hand it to Ben on some of his down-home tactics:

http://www.salon.com/2011/12/12/when_cooter_took_on_newt/singleton/

Again, HNet doesn't officially endorse one party or the other or any candidate or anything anywhere. This article is shared for Dukes of Hazzard related purposes as it applies to a cast member. 'Nuff said.

Khee...the bloodhounds were a nice touch, tho'. Bahahaha!

I was watching CNN tonight (8:00 EST) and they were mentioning actors who got into politics. I didn't hear what was being said....but written at the bottom of the screen was "Ben Jones as Cooter Davenport on the Dukes of Hazzard" I think they also mentioned the years he was involved in politics in Georgia.

Well I got home a couple of hours from being at Lightning Fest where Ben Jones and James Best was at. Had a great time! They both were very personable and great. Was surprised that Jones had a lot more people in his line than ol' Rosco had in his, but he did have a few in a line at most times. Got a hug from both James and Ben. Saw several General Lees and patrol cars. Plus, there was lot of matchbox type cars in the store plus sellers in another room. I finally got Uncle Jesse's truck, Daisy's roadrunner, and the 00 car! Now all I need is Cooter's tow truck and I'll be all set...and Enos' patrol car. LOL

Anyway, didn't know where to put this so I thought here would do. If anyone else was able to go yesterday or today would love to hear about it. I had a great time being there and talking to both Ben and James! It is great to see them out making appareances like this and keeping the show alive!

I went to the Autorama in Detroit MI. Sat. and I got to meet Ben Jones! The line was really long but i was lucky enough to be the 20th person in it, some of us had been there from 10:00am and he came out at 1:00pm Everyone that i met was really nice, Ben was really nice and so was his wife, he signed everything that i bought and chatted with me, he was super laid backhe was joking around with me and even sang the theme song. I even got my picture taken with him and the General Lee!! He didn't act like a big celeb, he acted just like a regular person. I hope everyone gets a chance to meet him he is a really great guy!!

I just saw him day before yesterday while his band performed in Suffolk, Virginia. I can tell you that he is so friendly you just wouldn't beleive it. He stayed WAY after the show was over shaking hands, posing for pictures with people and just talking with them. I was there for two hours as people waited the whole time in a seemingly never-ending line just for an autograph. He went out of his way to make everyone feel comfortable, even way past dark and in 95 degree humidity, he kept on smiling. And the band was great. He said, "I'm not really a singer...I'm an actor. But they always let me sing because it's MY band!"

One more thing...MANY of the fans coming up to him were five - ten years old who watch the reruns and are now huge fans. He talked with them and shook their hands just like everyone else. Ben was simply stating his opinion, and that's okay. Truth is...there were MANY young children out there after all these years still looking at him wide-eyed. And if the original wasn't so family-oriented...that wouldn't be happening today. I'm sure when the movie comes out to video, I'll rent it sooner or later. But I can tell you one thing for sure...regarding the "Boots are Made for Walkin'" video...my six year old son will not see the new Daisy Duke covered in bubbles and rolling around on the General Lee in a bikini anytime soon.
