Knoxville Nixes Dukes Sequel?
Rumor has it that Johnny Knoxville is not aiming towards another Dukes of Hazzard movie. In fact, he’s more likely to play a “Jackass” again, in hot pursuit of the role that gave him stardom. Knoxville’s sentiments echo recent mutterings by Seann William Scott, who would just as soon leave Hazzard County behind.
It seems that money ain’t everything for the erstwhile stars of the big-screen Dukes of Hazzard movie. Critics took aim at the film for its artistic shortcomings. Some longtime fans treated the movie like an open wound, finding it just as painful. The sharp barbs have apparently struck the nerves of these cinema stars.Â
But wait! The “Unrated” version of the movie will soon be available on DVD. The worst may be yet to come. Could this be the reason the cast is trying to put as many miles as possible between themselves and the movie? If anybody didn’t like the theatre version, the Unrated DVD will put a pitchfork in your hands. It may be wise indeed for the modern-day Dukes to run like hell.Â
Warner Bros, however, is only counting fan votes by the wallet. If the movie DVD pulls ahead in sales, a sequel could be put on the fast track. If the sales run behind the pack, the General Lee could be parked for good.
Meanwhile, the jury is still out, and the sequel is on probation. Watch our Forums page for all the news, gossip and fan feuds!
Seann William Scott Says No To Sequel
Seann William Scott Says No to Bo?
Media rumors are at odds over the chances of Dukes of Hazzard movie sequels. Early reports, fresh from the initial success of the August movie release, suggested that 2 additional films had been authorized by Warner Bros. The entire cast from the first movie were reportedly “locked in” to star in the sequels.
Jessica Simpson gave public comment to the likelihood of at least a second movie, which would be centered on a “Lost in London” theme. HazzardNet also received an anonymous tip that the second movie, in fact, had already begun filming.Â
Yet a recent online article posted by ContactMusic, stated that Seann William Scott nixed the sequel deal, saying that the Dukes movie was “a personal flop” for him and that he was not interested in revisiting his Bo Duke role.Â
SWS’s remarks, if they are sincere, represent a spinning 180-degree turn from his original enthusiasm for the role. Us folks at HazzardNet have to wonder: Was SWS sensitive to the movie criticism? Journalists as well as some longtime Dukes fans blasted the movie, though nobody was expecting an Oscar nomination anyway. The film did make money. And it’s hard to imagine Seann William Scott balking at a sequel for artistic reasons.Â

September 11th – Four Years After
It’s hard to believe it’s been 4 years. For me, it seems as fresh in my mind as if it was last week. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the horrible attacks on 9/11/2001 and those who are still dealing with the loss of loved ones. Please take a moment to reflect today and honor those who were taken from us too soon. Also take a moment to remember our brave soldiers who are fighting to ensure something like 9/11 never happens again.
