Smoky Mountain Fan Fest

Smokey Mountain Fan Fest Poster
Many of ya’ll have been asking about DukesFest this year.  While there’s not a DukesFest happening on the enormous scale of prior years, there IS an opportunity for you to meet several of the original Dukes Of Hazzard cast members this summer, at the Smokey Mountain Fan Fest.  Friends and neighbors, we’re pleased to share this news..

Mark your calendars now for Saturday July 18th and Sunday July 19th.  Get out the Road Atlas, program your GPS, pull up MapQuest or whatever you gotta do to find Sevierville, TN.  It’s about 20 minutes from downtown Knoxville in the picture-postcard-purty Smokey Mountains.

The Smokies Stadium is the host venue where you’ll have an opportunity to meet Ben Jones, James Best, Catherine Bach, Don Pedro Coley, Sonny Shroyer, Rick Hurst and Byron Cherry.  For those of ya’ll who don’t read the credits on the Dukes of Hazzard, that translates into Cooter, Rosco, Daisy, Sheriff Little, Enos, Cletus, and Coy.  Any one of these nice folks is worth the trip to meet, but when you get the chance to see six of ’em together, it’s even better.

If that ain’t enough, how about a good ol’ fashioned Hazzard-style hoedown with Merle Haggard in concert?  Yes, Haggard in Hazzard.   The concert is included with Saturday event admissions. There’s differenent options on how that works for seating and price, so we suggest you visit www.concertsinthesmokies.com to find the ticket deal you want.

Attention General Lee and other show car owners: Wanna bring your car?  Visit the website above and click on the Fan Fest info, then scroll down to the contact info.  Sounds like the special ticket offers are limited to the first 100 cars, so hit the gas on that one.

Disclaimer, ya’ll:  The Smokey Mountain Fan Fest is produced by the Smokies Stadium, Tennessee Smokies Baseball, and First Class Productions LLC.  In other words, you’ll need to visit the link above for tickets.  While several Dukes of Hazzard cast members will be making appearences, none of ’em are running this particular gig.

Hope to see ya there!

HazzardNet Fan of the Month

We’re long overdue for nominating a Dukes of Hazzard Fan of the Month. Recently, we were introduced to a 43-year old gentleman from Florida who definitely qualifies for the title.

Harry, who’s in the center of the picture below with the Oak Ridge Boys, has been a Dukes of Hazzard fan “since day one” in his own words. ( That’s since day “01” in Dukes speak.)

Harry is a devoted husband, an avid fisherman, and a lifelong Dukes fan. His favorite episode of the Dukes is “One Armed Bandits”.

When we asked Harry what sort of career he’d choose in Hazzard County, he was quick to answer that he’d be a Hazzard County Deputy. This is especially fitting as ol’ Rosco himself, Jimmie Best, has already given him a badge and made him an honorary Hazzard County Deputy Sheriff. Ya see, Harry has been demonstrating his courage in the face of adversity since 2003.

Harry has cancer. He’s been through the mill with treatments, hospitalizations, and pain. Things are at the point where the doctors say there’s nothing more they can do.

Which means we’re gonna ask God to take over, and help Harry fight his battle with cancer.

We’re also going to do our part to cheer Harry on, by putting up a Forums topic where you can leave your well-wishes, encouragements, thoughts and prayers for him.  Please join us here at HazzardNet as we rally behind this fellow Dukes fan.

Our thanks to Mr. Best for introducing us to Harry, our Fan of the Month.  Click here to read and post messages of encouragement to Harry.

Thirty Years of the Dukes!

Tonight, on the Dukes!

On January 26th, 1979, the Dukes of Hazzard premiered on CBS. Thirty years later, we’re still enjoyin’ watchin’ the folks of Hazzard County livin’ it up, crashin’ cars, jumpin’ creeks, smokin’ tires and just all around having a good time.

Yeeehaw!!

Fun and Games in the Forums

There’s a lot going on in our forums and we thought we’d take some time to highlight some of the fun threads.

The trivia section has been growing these last few months. Several of our members have been participating in trivia and several other games designed to test your knowledge of the show. Swing by the Dukes of Hazzard trivia section to check them out.

Visit the Official Dukes of Hazzard Trivia thread where you can find some fun and challenging questions regarding all the episodes. Duke or Dupe is a fun game where you have to guess from two things which was really on the show and which was not. We also have a DOH Memory game where you have to guess which episode the posted pictures are from. And just this week, another trivia game was added, Star Trivia, which focuses on trivia about the cast.

So, come visit our trivia section and see if you can unseat some of our trivia masters!

Dukes of Hazzard Trivia Nights

One of our members, MinDuke, will be hosting Trivia Nights in the HazzardNet chatroom every Saturday evening for 2 hours starting at 5pm eastern/8pm pacific. At the end of the year, the top scorers for the year will have a chance at prizes and bragging rights in the trivia championship.

Our first trivia night was last Saturday, January 3rd. The winner was Meadowmufn (me). *Takes a bow.* I, however, am not eligible for competition in the championship, seeing as I’m putting up the prizes. The runner up was RogerDuke. Congrats, Roger!
