2013 NASCAR race reviews and results

As Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane would say...I got some baaad news, baaadd news. ;):(

The boys...and Danica are racing at Chicagoland tomorrow/today which is the closest track to where I live...and all week they have been predicting rain/thunderstorms this Sunday (which we need...just wish it wasn't race day...) and after hearing talk on Twitter, I finally looked it up for Joliet Illinois where Chicagoland is at. They have a SEVENTY percent chance of rain on Sunday. Just read someone say on Twitter that the rain is suppose to start in the morning and end around nine or ten at night!

So if it rains it will mean hours of delay before they cancel it and race on Monday around noon...when I have to be at work.

Bet you can guess who is NOT happy with this, right? :(

So far it has been a pretty good race. Jimmie Johnson and Joey Logano are said to be the fastest on the track...

We are now red flagged for more rain. We are currently thirteen laps shy of the halfway mark...

If the race goes green later tonight...it will be on ESPN 2. ESPN has said they will report at six to see if anything else is planned. Will keep you updated.

Dang...what a lousy way to start the Chase. :(

I am hearing rumors the race may restart 8:00 central time or 9 central time...hmmm doubt I will be able to stay up to watch the whole thing. :( I have to get up at four tomorrow morning. Dang work anyway!

I am pretty sure that the race will start at 10:00 EST on ESPN2. I will have to write my review tomorrow afternoon after work and I get home. Sorry for letting y'all down, but I doubt I will be up to see the end. :( Not happy about this but perhaps Gordon will do better without me...let's go team 24! :)

It's just after 10pm EST and it's getting ready to start up again. In the meantime Sunday night football in Seattle is in the middle of a storm delay. Congrats on JG making THE CHASE Garrett. I'm SOOOO happy for you. I think it was a great decision.

Thanks Roger. :) I was and still super excited with NASCAR's great decision about including Jeff Gordon in the Chase. :) The Chase now has a whole different meaning to it than it did before. :D

Yep just turned the race on...Matt Kenseth is still out front followed by Jimmie Johnson.

Well Matt Kenseth went on to win the opening race at Chicagoland, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, and Jeff Gordon make the top six. Logano and Earnhardt Jr both had engine problems it sounds.

I turned it off with about a hundred laps to go...Jeff Gordon led a few laps before Cole Whitt's car caught on fire to bring out the caution and then a debris caution. Carl Edwards made it four wide after a restart which gave Gordon a flat tire and looks like a lap down. I was on my way to bed when I heard / saw Gordon going into pits. So it wasn't the win I was hoping for...but with all things considered, am happy with sixth. :)

Thanks Garrett, I had to go to bed before the restart (it was even later than a night race :().

I checked the results when I woke up, and was pleased to see Ricky had claimed 8th - his best finish so far. In the part of the race I saw, the commentators mentioned how Ricky had improved over the last few races, and that his team was giving him more resources.

The race has just gotten over. Not a whole lot to talk about. Juan Pablo Montoya wrecked out his team mate Jamie McMurray...though McMurray was able to recover and have a strong finish. Martin Truex Jr. led a lot of laps after losing his sponsor (after the season ends) but came home tenth.

Jeff Gordon led a lot of laps before he went into pits and over shot is pit stall and came out twenty second. He comes home fifteenth.

Kasey Kahne wrecked himself into the wall hard. Came out looking like he was holding his hand and when they interviewed him he seemed out of it and they cut the interview short. Did come back out, but 22 laps behind.

Matt Kenseth has won his seventh race of the season...second race in row. Two races into the Chase so far...and Kenseth won them both. He won today on his 500th career NASCAR start.

Go Junior!

Okay, I'm not exactly the biggest Dale Jr fan out there but I was happy to see him in the pole position. Thanks for the update.

Unfortunately for me I've used up all my Dale Jr spots in our fantasy NASCAR league Garrett.

In fact, I only have one Jeff Gordon position open. Which race do you think I should save it for?

You are welcome...love writing anything NASCAR. :D

You are not a Dale Jr fan...thought you were. So who is your favorite driver?

No more Dale Jr left on your team? What?! LOL. Think I am pretty much there with Kyle Busch. Think I may have one more start left with Kyle. I have two more starts with Jeff...have been trying my best to save him. It has been hard! Wish I could pick him every week.

As for what week to pick Jeff Gordon...Hmmmm. He has won at Talladega before, but I wouldn't risk using him there. Anyone can win at Talladega and anything can happen at 'Dega. I would either go with the Martinsville race on October 27th or the Charlotte race on October 12th. Though Jimmie Johnson is also always good at Charlotte. Gordon has won at Texas before though and he won at Homestead last year. So I guess I would probably use him at Martinsville and use JJ at Charlotte...but then again, don't go all by what I say. ;)

Yeah I wish I chose Jr for this week...think I have a couple or so races I can use him at. Didn't even consider him for this week...:(

Well I have missed the first half of the race and may miss the end. Went in and got a new phone and that took longer than expected and may go meet my sister. So I will have to do my review as of what I read about.

So far JJ led all the laps I have seen...though just went into pits and Dale Jr is leading...except now he is in for green flag pit stops. Gordon is in lead right now, but am sure he will be called in in a lap or two.

Seeing how my Bears got their first loss of the season...Jeff Gordon better have a GREAT finish today! So far, he is looking good.

Well I lied...not intentionally. I was able to stay and watch the end of the race and it was a great race, but nothing too exciting to report about. Jimmie Johnson led the most laps and was able to hold on to win the race...he now holds the record with the most wins at Dover with eight. Dale Jr was chasing him down and was close to the win. Joey Logano came in third and Jeff Gordon came home in fourth.

I'm not sure what happened to Ricky today. For the first half of the race he was in the mid-teens, and even made up a few places before the second caution. Then, approaching halfway, he dropped down to about 21st just before a caution, and he was the second car a lap down. I guess I shouldn't be too unhappy with 17th, but he was two laps down.

Well the race has just finished and what a crazy race it was with at least fourteen cautions if not more. Several of the cautions was for single car spin outs, a few debris cautions...and one for a grass fire in the fan area in the stands. Kansas has been rotten for Kyle Busch and once again it came back to bite him. First when Juan Pablo Montoya spun him out...later on Kyle spun out and hit the wall hard to take him out of the race. Finished 35th and drop from third in points to fifth.

Kevin Harvick had earned the most points by starting from the pole, led the most laps, and won the race.

Jeff Gordon had a pretty good race as he would be in the top ten then would fall back due to bad luck and be able to race his way back up. Had an incident with Kurt Busch who ended up hitting him into the wall. (Bet y'all can guess who was NOT happy with Kurt Busch today! ;) ) Jeff held on to finish third today. Jeff also confronted Kurt after the race about the incident and do believe they left each other agreeing to disagree. It was a civil conversation between the two and both had interviews afterwards where they talked about it calmly. Hope we can move on from that...

Official results at Kansas:

1. Kevin Harvick

2. Kurt Busch

3. Jeff Gordon

4. Joey Logano

5. Carl Edwards

6. Jimmie Johnson

7. Paul Menard

8. Dale Earnhardt Jr.

9. Marcos Ambrose

10. Aric Almirola

11. Matt Kenseth

12. Jeff Burton

13. Greg Biffle

14. Clint Bowyer

15. Kasey Kahne

16. Jamie McMurray

17. Brad Keselowski

18. Juan Pablo Montoya

19. Martin Truex Jr

20. AJ Allmendinger

22. Mark Martin

23. Denny Hamlin

24. David Gilliland

25. Dave Blaney

26. Travis Kvapil

27. JJ Yeley

28. Timmy Hill

29. Tony Raines

30. Ricky Stenhouse Jr (Sorry Hoss he didn't have the race you were hoping for...I was hoping for more out of him for my fantasy team too...if it makes you feel any better. ;) )

31. Cole Whitt

32. Brian Vickers

33. Landon Cassill

34. Kyle Busch

35. Ryan Newman

36. David Ragen

37. David Reutimann

38. Michael McDowell

39. Justin Allgaier

40. Josh Wise

41. Joe Nemechek

42. Reed Sorenson

43. Danica Patrick (Danica wrecked out on the first lap :( )

Our next race is next SATURDAY NIGHT on channel ABC at Charlotte. . .

With that said, my thoughts and prayers are with Dario Franchitti and the ten fans at the IZOD race as he got in a horrendous accident that tore his car apart. Very scary to watch and am hoping Dario and everyone will be OK. Last I heard Dario was in the hospital complaining of his back and ankle hurting. :( Just soooo very scary!

OK just heard or read on a Facebook page that Dario has a concussion, two fractured vertebras, and a broken right ankle. So horrible and yet it could have been worse. :(
