Like I have always said time and time again - "Nothing will ever beat the original series".....Sure it was done a 100+ different ways BUT how many times can Boss Hogg try and frame the Dukes. Yeah I have all seven season boxsets and the 05 movie (PG13 and Unrated), don't have or want the "The Beginning". I find myself watching the PG13 version and a some of the episodes more than most of the series.

I'm gone

I appreciate your response...especially the part where you said you won't own "The Beginning". I saw the 2005 movie when it was in theaters because curiosity got the best of me. I didn't go out and buy the DVD or anything and told all my family members not to ever buy it as a gift for me. I have to admit though, I can see why it did appeal to some people. In fact, there were parts of it that I really liked a lot. If that's all the worse changing the Dukes would have gotten I could have accepted it a little, but when "The Beginning" came out...well that definitely sealed my attitude about why they shouldn't try to change perfection. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

I haven't seen it yet. Don't know if I want to. The Dukes of hazzard movie was all right, although a little disappointing, especially the charactor of Bo in the movie. Guess Hollywood is trying to spiff up the Dukes for this generation to like, cause this generation is more into the sex and violence in movies..

Maybe I'm just getting old

Where did you hear that Julie? That's news to me.Oh please no say it aint so. As far as I know there was alledgedly supposed to be a miniseries as a follow up to The Beginning. That rumor has died apparently. I have heard nothing from any of my sources about any new Dukes projects..

Well I can see why they'd make them direct to DVD because after the first one I doubt that anyone would want to go to theatres and see it again. It can appricate everyone's view here, that the Dukes is both something that can never be changed and I understand that the movies were not supposed to be like the orignal series. Everyone has their own views on how the Dukes came to live on the Duke Farm, its a hole that the writers never explained in the show, I mean look at all the fan fic writers out there like myself that can make up their own version of how all these events came to be. The Beginning was only was only one explanation of that. I have to admit though, being a fan of the original show - born in '89 - I did like some parts of the first movie. I thought that the whole strip mining of Hazzard thing was very clever...its just the sexual inuendos and the pure filth in the movie that got to me. I'm sorry, but they ruined Uncle Jesse's character...anyone that has seen the movie cannot now go to their kids 'What would Uncle Jesse say if...' because they'd come out with some dirty limiric instead of sage advice.

I am all for change, but there are some things that are better left as they are. Dukes is one of them. It is a timeless classic and if you are going to do a re-make, of course put spins on things, but do they have to ruin perfectly good characters, characters generations have grown up to love and respect in order to make it 'acceptable' for the younger generation, my generation, to enjoy by making it into a filthy movie?

Let's face it, if there were more family movies around instead of all these kind of ones, what would society be more like today? Doesn't that question ever come up into anyone's minds? In the age where true hereos like Superman, The Dukes and Knight Rider were all on television, how was that society? They got by watching these programmes...why is it that this generation has become so warped that its not cool to watch good, family programmes like that anymore.

All credit to Smallville, they have kept the Superman classic alive for this generation and while there are often Sexual connotations, they are only reflecting exactly what today's society is like seeing as that is the time period in which it was set. But then again, it is very overshadowed by the family feel of the Kents, the brotherly love between Pete and Clark and the tight friendships of Lana, Chloe, Lois and Clark later on. None of the characters have been warped as bad as the two Dukes movies did. Maybe we should get those writers to write a Dukes movie and see how it turns out. Hands up who'd like to see Tom Welling have a go at being Luke Duke.... :-P

ill admit that like BoJamesDuke had said, the strip mining in hazzard part was clever to think up of. but, as much as i like some of willi nelson's music, i know that they ruined Uncle Jesse's character. and when Bo and Luke cussed in it, Uncle Jesse never allowed them to cuss in the series, and i reckon they had enough sexual stuff in there that i turned off one time and got mad, i whatched 5 mintues of the beggining and i turned it off too. and besides in my opion Catherine Bach was a wayy better daisy duke than Jessica Simpson.

I like the movie the beginning, other then the nude women and Willie nelson, I thaugh the youung dukes did great, they should have been in the movie Dukes of Hazzard, April Scott was and should have been the new Daisy Duke by a mile, not Jessica.
