DixieDarlin Posted November 18, 2005 Report Share Posted November 18, 2005 I know rosco and enos never really got in any shoot-outs or nothing, but I always worried about them not wearing any bullet proof vests. I mean, something COULD have happened involving someone with a gun and they could have got shot or even accidentally shot themselves. I'm friends with lots of cops, and even though vests are uncomfortable, they wear them "just in case".........anybody else ever think about that? Duke of Chicago Posted December 15, 2005 Report Share Posted December 15, 2005 Hi, Im new here but I have a reason the Sheriff's department didnt wear body armor. Bullet Resistant Vests weren't made concealable until the mid 90's. Even then most old time cops didnt choose to wear them, wasnt untill I think 2000 or so that all department made body armor mantiory. So in short Rosco and company didn't wear vests cuz no police department was wearing them. Well maybe the SWAT teams. LOL sorry about the long winded explation, hopes that helps.
