Days of Shine and Roses....season 2

-- I think I'll start putting the season on here after the episode name. That way if somebody watches an ep in the future and wants to quote me and add comments on this thread it will be easier to find the ep.

-- Tempers start to fly between Jesse and Boss at the 32nd annual Ridge Runner's Reunion. After Bo made a comment the next thing you know Boss and Jesse are challenging themselves to a ridge running race and Luke said to Bo "Cousin, you just started World War III." During the race Jesse finds out that Boss's henchmen switched the water in Jesse's trunk for moonshine. To make matters worse, he's heading out of Hazzard County and into a Choctaw County roadblock.

-- I absolutely loved the old black and white film of Jesse and Boss. I don't know how they made it but it is one of my favorite scenes in the whole series. Even Bo and Luke wore ties to the reunion. It shows you how much they respected their elders.

-- Jesse's Black Tillie vs Boss's Grey Ghost...for car fans back then, seeing a Mustang vs Camaro race was epic....especially for a Mustang owner like me to see Jesse's Mustang win.

-- It looks like we have another out of town sheriff named Emmitt. This time it's Choctaw County Sheriff Emmitt "Spike" Loomis. (I live in Erie County Pennsylvania and our sheriff is Sheriff Loomis! Thankfully he's never pulled off any of my car parts)

-- When Jesse was practicing and tearing through the Duke's field Waylon said something I can relate to. "Ain't it funny how the most mature man can be turned into a little boy if you give him the right toy." lol That reminded me of a saying I read a few years ago "You're only young once but you can be immature forever."

-- I loved the old truck that the bad guys drove when they switched the water into shine. I had a 1963 Ford that looked just like it except it had a wood bed and a lift kit.

-- This episode is a blast. What a great way to start what many Dukes fans would call the greatest season of all. The show had hit it's stride in season 2 and at this point was destined to become the greatest TV show in history.

This was a Great review! One of my favorite episodes for sure!!!! TU Roger!

  2. I litteraly just watched the hack of hazzard or hazzard hack and noticed Colonial City police car at the end. Had to check and see u u had them in here. Im not surprised that u already had it in here. U have so much good information in here. Thanks for all ths great research. I must say that that patrol car looms pretty outdated for season 3. I thought they would have had a newer car.

Check out estatesales.net and put in your ZIP code. I've come across some of the items you mentioned at sales in my area and I wouldn't be surprised if you found a few in your area as well as some DoH memorabilia. Just a little advice be prepared to do some combat saleing, there are people that go to estate and garage sales that didn't have an Uncle Jessie to teach them manners when growing up. You will get pushed, shoved, stuff ripped out of your hands, your money stolen if you don't have a death grip on your wallet or purse etc... Some of the stories I could tell you... at one sale I almost got pushed down stairs by one impatient jackwagon. I've come across some rally neat vintage or antique items at sales though.

    Thank you!

I had to laugh at my notifications the other morning - one of them said "deli rentacop frontage rd is now following you". It's not the first another member has followed me, but it's the first time I've felt like I was under police surveillance! I'll have try a little shuck and jive to lose my tail, and if that doesn't work, maybe I'll jump the creek ;).

LOL, don't do that because then I will end up in the creek. What a horrendous crash!! Yeah, Its a fitting name. I work for a security team at a psychiatric hospital so every time i hear boss threaten Rosco, about firing him and making him the All night deli rentacop on frontage Road, I knew that it was a perfect name for me, lol.

This is awesome. Thank you so much for putting Rosco's post back here in the spotlight and I'm sure his good friend Meadowmufn appreciates it. He used to come to the chat rooms here...great memories!

Tnx Roger, What a great thread.. So good to see actual writing of Rosco. Anyway hope all is well.

  6. So i am getting to this thread really late but I was sitting here at work watching old Clifton James on the dukes and just wanted to check out when he passed. Every DOH show I watch, I always google the guests to see where they are at and to see if they are still around. I was not surprised to see that he was passed away but I was surprised that he lived to 2017. I was even more surprised to see that he lived in Gladstone Oregon, about 30 min drive from my home qth. Anyway. I thought he did a good job feeling in.

  7. I know that this is a old post and Mr. Best is gone but I will say that Cherry and Meyer (in my opinion) did a great job filling in for the boys. They would have been accepted like Jeb Stuart Duke but unfortunately they were resented because of the whole thing with merch. Doesn't help either when Wopat refers to them as "Clones".  Two of my favorite episodes are the Mean Green Machine ones. Those were great. I would really like a MGMachine toy ERTL car if anyone know where to get one. But anyway, I have to give credit to Byron Cherry for participating in the Dukes of Hazzard events and not having a bad attitude for some of the bad things said about him. That just shows that he loved the show. Anyway, that's my 2 cents

Stupid cell phones have made life so boring. Kids nowadays have no idea how much fun CBs were. That's why I always get the walkie talkies out when my grandkids are around. It helps them understand a little.

Lol, that's awesome to hear! My wife and I baby sit a good friends little boy. She is a single mom and he does not get much guy time so when we babysit him I always break out the walkie talkies and he absolutely loves it. We also makes forts and run race cars down the steps. Anyway, it is a lot of fun for him and me talking the radio.

Welcome Rentacop! Come on by the car lot and I'll give you a little of my best! ( You never waist a sip!) You remind me of myself. I was in high school and me and my friends used to watch TDOH religiously, because we weren't quite old enough to drive! I taped them all on VHS too but then I got them on DVD when those were developed! I hope you like it here.

TU Hobie! Heck yeah, those were some good old memories, taping the shows. I wish I could find those tapes. They are long gone. I need to buy the DVD collection. I have been watching all the episodes on the internet but it would be nice to see it on the big screen. I will say this, I have learned a lot about the California Hazzard, in the past few days just reading the posts and looking at the pics of the square. It has been fun watching and knowing things that i did not know before. Hazzardnet has a load of knowledge and look forward to checking out more stuff.

There have to be some CB radio enthusiasts out there- anyone ever pay attention to the CB radios used on the show? I'm sure somebody has pegged the kind used in the General Lee, but what about other characters? The patrol cars, Jesse, Cooter, Daisy, etc.? Also, the CB base stations at the Duke farm, etc.

I'll start off: I have only looked into one, and that is the base station used in Cooter's Garage. Its a radio shack REALISTIC TRC-432 NAVAJO CB base station (with the brand name blacked out with black tape). From what I can tell, its the same kind throughout the series, but I could be wrong on that. He does use a couple different types of microphones though.

    Mark

I found this screen shot in season 5 in enos's patrol car. It is a General Electric 40 channel. I don't remember the model number but it is for sale on EBay. Most of the vehecle ran the Sharp 40 channel and the early general had the Cobra 78X. Boss had a Pace in his Convertible. Anyway, i know this is a old thread but just saw it.

  11. Tnx guys! I have tried to uplaod a avitar icon for my page but it says its to large so i have to figure out how to do that.

I also tried to upload some pics but it said something about wrong. Idk.. I will try to figure it out. Thanks for the warm welcome..

  12. Hey Flint! I really enjoy Coy and Vance myself. Season 5 is a good one. Especially Green Machine episodes. It has to be hard for Byron Cherry to go to the Duke fests knowing that they were replacements and being hated on by a lot of the hard core duke fans. Anyway, im a new member also... Sounds like we have a lot in common when it comes to DOH. Ttyl

  13. Hey Everyone! Just wanted to say hello! I have been watching DOH since I was a little boy in the 80's . I have been reading this page for many years but finally wanted to join.

I successfully taped every show while it was broadcast on the Nashville Network. It was all on vhs tape. I spend a lot of time buying old cars and lunch boxes to decorate my radio room. I currently hold a ametuer radio licence and spend a lot of time on the radio talking with friends locally and all over USA.

I always make sure to mention that I got started in radio due to the DOH. I currently own 2 CB radios that were the type used in the General Lee. I have made a Youtube video of those radios. I keep them just for decorative purposes.

Anyway, been wanting to decorate my radio room like JD's Boars Nest office. I need green lights, a English Bulldog statue, swordfish, pictures of dogs playing pool, retro wood paneling a Barbour chair and so on.... Lol.

If u know where to get any cool props, please let me know. Also, i was thinking about getting a glass case to put some of my memorabilia. I hate just knowing that it is sitting in boxes...

Tnx everyone for making this a great page..
