Sweetness! Too bad you didht pick up a Hardee's #28 Cale Yarborough car.

That would have been cool but they didn't have any. They had a 70's Torino one, I forget the name of the driver but recognized is was a Junie Dunlavey owner car but I didn't want to pay that much for it. Someone came by after I did Saturday and cleaned out most of the NASCAR cars they had as I went back Sunday for the Richard Petty set. Her husband was a fan of the Petty's, Earnhardt's and Jeff Gordon. Most of the Petty and Earnhardt stuff is gone, they still had plenty of Jeff Gordon diecasts though lol.

  2. Glad to see your doing a little better Roger. There's been a lot of new viruses this past winter/spring season.

I expect mother's day is going to be a short visit because the m-i-l will lay a thick guilt trip on us if he doesn't get the loan. But we weren't the ones who jumped off a cliff without a parachute. We'll give them probably a $100 grocery store gift card to help out but we're not going to empty our savings to bail him out. Can't wrap my head around it still. I mean my God he basically committed financial suicide. His new car is in his mother's name so if he files for bankruptcy they probably won't take it away but still.

  3. I had plans to watch both Talladega races this weekend but watched about 5 minutes of each of them . Saturday I was busy mowing lawns till about 6 and when I got out of the shower caught the last gwc start and end of the Xfinity race. Sunday celebrated a friend's birthday so just caught a few laps here and there.

NASCAR related news....I stopped at a garage sale over the weekend and scored some NASCAR cars, Bill Elliott's 94 McDonald's Mac Tonight, Kyle Petty Coors 42 and a Richard Petty car and hauler collector's set. Lady gave me a great deal on the Bill Elliott car and Kyle Petty car but I paid almost full price for the Richard Petty set.

  4. SMH, The predicament my brother in law got himself into. Turns out they didn't roll the $5k into the new car loan so he is making 2 car payments a month, one for the totalled car. He asked me yesterday if my credit union does loans for for his predicament, I told him all he can do is try as I didn't know. I couldn't believe it. If he doesn't get a $5k loan quick he's going to lose everything. I can't wrap my head around how he got himself into this, my God.

LOL . . . well this better not be one of those times. You now got my hopes higher than the sky!

Though we are racing at Talladega this weekend. He'll have to avoid "the big one"  in order to win. ;) But you said, he's going to win the rest of the year. By golly...he has to win the rest of the year. LOL.

I wonder if it will be a demolition derby like the Daytona 500 was.

  6. Get to feeling better Roger, hopefully the break in rain will help.

Took the G8 to the first local cars and coffee meet yesterday. Might also be the last cars and coffee meet this year lol. A lot of idiots showed up acting like idiots, revving their motors, revving competitions, burning rubber leaving the meet, doing drugs etc... So yeah will not be surprised if the rest of the meets are canceled, this is the 4th or 5th parking lot that the organizer has had to ask permission for in the past decade because idiots got them kicked out of the other lots over the years. Was a few very interesting cars that showed up. A Citroen DS3, 60's Lincoln Continental that was lowered 3 inches with stock rims and original hubcaps, 90's Miata with a 90's Ford 5.0 cobra engine, an old Cushman scooter.

  7. With NBC losing 10 NASCAR cup series races for 2025 they are dropping the final 8 Xfinity races this year and CW will air them instead

    https://sports.yahoo.com/cw-network-exclusively-broadcast-final-143216337.html

The 2025 TV deal will make it harder to watch some of the races. Fox will get the first 14 races the next 5 will only be on Amazon Prime streaming, the other 5 will be on TNT or Max streaming service but only if you subscribe to the premium sports package on Max. The final 14 races will be on NBC.

You beat me to it, Spike! I am so excited that Chase finally found himself in Victory Lane. He has been getting closer and closer this year. And here we are. I hope that this means that more is to come. Ironic enough, an online NASCAR fan was telling me the other day that I should switch to William Byron since the reason I went with Elliott was because he went to the 24 car first (Jeff Gordon's original number). Have to say it was tempting because Byron is the 24 driver, drives for Hendrick, and has been doing great last year and this year. But being the Cubs fan that I am...am loyal to the end. So Byron will be my second favorite. Sadly I missed his win as I went grocery shopping instead because I was too lazy to go yesterday. Though if I did watch it today, I'd probably have an heart attack up to the white flag! LOL. I am just so excited...must mean it's going to be a great week. LOL.

I was never a Denny Hamlin fan either, because he did show aggressive driving even in his first season in NASCAR and it hasn't changed. Then him wrecking Elliott all that he did, carved it in stone. LOL.

    YAY CHASE ELLIOTT!!! CONGRATULATIONS. :)

    Thank you Spike.

You definitely would have, they did 3 or 4 gwc's and Chase's team were telling him to shut the engine off as much as possible as they didn't think he'd have enough to get around the track for one more gwc. It ended under caution so he coasted the last half lap.

  9. Disregard the GoFundMe link. He found a buy her pay here dealer that rolled the $5k into a loan for another car. He just jumped from one deep pool to one where his head is barely above water but whatever. I offered advice and he didn't care to listen. He called last night boasting that it has more options than our cars, So it also has 4x the miles ours do. Heck add the miles of both the wife's and my car's and they still wouldn't come close to his new car. I wish him good luck with it though and hopefully he can keep his head above water on it.

LOL This Roger Duke guy is weird. Who cares about the price of used cats?

I do , I have a previously owned cat.

Speaking of cats, the little runt beat up the vet assistant last week at her annual checkup . I was like she's just 6.5 lbs, I carry her around in one arm lol. I guess she's learned a lot during our wrestling matches

Spike, did you ever find out if you are going to be in totality for the eclipse on Monday? How about you Skipper? I'm wondering if Spike is north of it and Skipper is south of it.

Where I work it looks like we will be on the edge of totality, I already said I'm working in my building as my boss already said we could take a few minutes to go outside and view it, in fact he gave everyone eclipse glasses this week.

""This surprises me considering the price of used cars.""

I was shocked too, someone is going to buy it and fix it and sell it as a rebuilt title, only the side airbags went off and only the passenger doors and B pillar is damaged. Windshield, A and C pillars, rear quarter panel and front fender are fine. Let's just say I'm glad I'm not a customer of that company that has a certain late show host, rapper and former governor as shills. Luckily both my wife and i's cars have GAP insurance through our insurance company.

Brother in laws car was ransacked up in Michigan in the yard that it was towed to after the accident. His insurance had it towed to their lot here in Ohio and he went to get some personal items Monday and everything in the interior is gone except registration and the manual. Luckily they didn't grab mother in laws scooter out of the trunk. They even took the gas door :cornfused: probably even stole the gas out of the car. I think insurance will get his car fixed as the damage is just the doors and b pillar.

Well he heard back from his insurance, they totaled it out, their reasoning is any car 5 years or older with $3,000 or more damage gets automatically totaled. Unfortunately for him he didn't get the GAP insurance so now he's out of a car and still owes $5k on it because he bought it for more than it was worth instead of shopping around for a better deal.
