Sometimes quoted with "military" as an oxymoron.26 minutes ago, RogerDuke said:(I didn't go to Vietnam but the boot camp part of the movie was amazing with it's realism)
Some of the movie was filmed across the river from where I went to college in London. Sadly, without the web back then, I only found after the area had been redeveloped.

Yesterday we lost Irish singer Sinead O'Connor at the age of only 56. I'm aware that she was a very controversial figure, especially in the US, but she always stuck to her principles rather than chasing fame or fortune, and campaigned for some worthy causes. She also struggled with mental health issues. There's been a huge outpouring of tributes over here for the singer with the fantastically pure voice. She influenced so many female artists including Sarah McLachlan and Alanis Morissette. P!nk even sang 'Nothing Compares 2 U" to honor her in concert last night.
From her 1987 debut album 'The Lion and the Cobra', here's 'Mandinka':

GREENVILLE
The run that one of the armored cars was on in 'Sky Bandits Over Hazzard'. -
I'm so sorry to read this news, Roger.
I've literally just read a message from a friend of mine who lost a close friend over night, and that's just three weeks after she buried her mother. I obviously never knew your daughter, but you've shared various stories about meeting her over the years, so I feel like I know a bit about her. You'll be in my thoughts. -

Any progress is good, and you're definitely heading in the right direction. Great job.

I also hope mankind can build a safe sub that can stand the enormous pressure down there.
James Cameron's company does have submarines and submersibles (there's a difference) that can safely take the pressure and even go the bottom of the Mariana Trench which is nearly three times deeper than the Titanic. According to this article, he's visited the wreck 33 times. The problem with OceanGate is that their vessel was insufficiently tested and uncertified, and many experts had expressed doubts about its construction.
8 hours ago, Skipper Duke said:I have a thought. Why don't they offer virtual reality tours of the Titanic wreck site? Give people special 3D glasses to get the feeling of actually being down there. Program a robot vehicle with under water cameras to go down there, to take pictures and videos and have it set up to send it back up here for people on the ship to see? Safer that way. Send unmanned subs. Now days there's technology to do a virtual reality type tour.
You can already take a virtual tour of the Titanic without leaving your front room (see video below), but now that it's possible to visit in person, some rich people are always going to want to say they've actually been there. The second video shows a very detailed 1:350 model of the wreckage with an explanation of which parts survive and which bits don't.

1 hour ago, Skipper Duke said:Yes it is. The same Chevelle.
As Skipper says, it's the same car (as far as I remember, these grabs are both from 'Duke vs Duke'):
In my 'Other Vehicles of Hazzard' fanart thread, I showed how they used at least two different cars each time. I also suggested that they may have repainted the Chevelle(s) as Petey Willis' racecar in 'Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke'.

Tragedy in my life
in HazzardNet Family

Roger, I'm sure the feelings will come to you in waves. My friend who lost her mother recently suddenly got hit with the realization that she'd never see her mother again about a week ago. Another friend of mine lost her father around the same time. I bumped into her earlier for the first time in a couple of weeks, and she's still on an emotional roller-coaster going back and forth across the country sorting things out.
If you want to wrap up this thread, that's for you to decide, but no one will complain if you want to keep posting. HNet is generally a happy place where we come to escape the troubles of the world, but it also has some nooks and crannies for topics like this.
