  1. I agree with Daney. When I went to Dukesfest, the only time I saw the cars, really was the parade of General Lees. I spent most of my time in lines waiting to see the cast members and talking with other fans - which is mostly what I went for in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I love the car, and would love to have one myself, but remember, "the car is the star of the show" is the mindset that brought us the Coy and Vance episodes!
  2. Once again, a great thread idea, General! I love reading about everybody's "babies." Most people here know about Denny by now, but he is by no means an only kitty! Inside my house, I have a 13-year-old orange tabby named Mariah; Denny who is three; and Frankie and Teddy, my two-year-olds. Frankie is a little tuxedo cat - kind of like Sylvester - and Teddy is a large black and white cat with a stripe of black down her nose. Frankie tends to get most of the attention because she is a special needs cat. My vet says that her mental level will never progress beyond three months - so she will always be my little kitten, no matter how old she is. Outside, I have a black lab-collie-springer spaniel mix named Oliver (Who thinks he is a cat.), two black cats named Abraham and Noel, another black and white cat named Johnnie, and a completely tailless Russian blue named Tatyana. They are our "yard cats," as my father calls them. Oh, and a beagle named Bo who was old enough to realize that he was a dog when he showed up and can't figure out what is wrong with Ollie. As if that weren't enough, my three females outside have given birth to kittens! (They turned up pregnant.) So now, we have five from one litter, four from another, and two from the third. Yes, that is a lot of cats - fortunately, I live out in the middle of nowhere where they can chase mice and lizards all they want. Needless to say, they will be getting fixed as soon as the babies are weened - and the babies will be fixed as soon as they are old enough.
  3. Don't feel bad, General Grant - I know a lot of people who weren't sure what a manx was the first time I said it! A manx is a type of cat that can have either very little tail, no tail, or a curled over tail. A lot of people in the old days called them cabbits, because they swore that they were a cross between a cat and a rabbit! (The breed actually comes from the Isle of Mann.) My Denny has a tiny little nub about an inch long that he wags like a dog when he gets excited. I also have a Russian blue manx named Tatyana who has no tail at all. What kind of cat is Kitt? Julieduke - It just goes to show, cats have good taste! Garrett Duke - I had wondered if you were the same person I talked to when I first started posting fanfics. I kinda thought so, but the different username threw me.
  4. Makes perfect sense to me, General Grant. My username was easy - I just had to look down. My manx is named Denver Coltrane, after his two favorite people on the Dukes. (Since the day I got him, he has come running the minute he hears the theme song and will follow Jesse and Rosco everywhere they go on screen.) Since he is just about always on my lap when I 'm on the internet, it just seemed natural to use him for my username. Now I'm known everywhere I go online as Denver C or Denny.
  5. I've been lucky enough to meet Tom twice now - once at Dukesfest and once at a concert in my hometown - and he was a sweetheart both times! At the concert, he made a point of coming out before the show to meet the fans and get his picture taken with a General Lee that someone had brought. Then, at intermission, he came back out while everyone else was taking a few minutes break and signed autographs and answered questions. I just can't imagine anyone calling him a jerk!
  6. Maybe they figure that Adam West would be something for the nonDukes fans that come with family or friends. (I realize that it is a shock that there could be such uncultured people out there, but they do exist!) Personally, I don't care if he's there or not, but I do agree with everyone else that it would be nice to know which actual cast members will be there before worrying about "special guests". It would be nice if they could have all of the surviving regular and semiregular cast members there, though.
  7. Wow, Roger! Shameless self-promotion and kissing up all in one list - I'm impressed! Seriously, though, I think one of the best parts of this forum is getting to talk to people you would otherwise never meet. (Especially about something that is obviously important to all of us. It gives us someone to talk to who understands - and saves our families from another Dukes conversation! )

    Name songs

How about "Angelina" by John Schneider? (I was just listening to the cd when I found this thread.) There's also "Bubba Shot the Jukebox" and "Windy." I think the first one is by Sawyer Brown, but I'm not positive. I don't know who does the other one, but I know I've had it sung to me by every guy I've ever dated! (I hate that song!!! )
  9. According to the liner notes on the soundtrack cd, it's two modern day Robin Hoods. I don't know why, but closed captioning messes things like that up a lot. I don't know if there are humans doing it and they just don't pay attention or if it is a computer and it just can't pick up some subtle differences between words.
  10. You're not quite last minute yet, General Grant. Seems like I'm always following you for some reason! I just wanted to add my wishes for a very merry Christmas to all of you, and to thank you all for always making me feel welcome. I know I don't post often, but y'all never make me feel like I'm intruding on something when I do join in, and I want you all to know how important that is to me. Merry Christmas, and everyone please stay safe, especially if you're travelling.
  11. No, General Grant, you didn't scare me away - I just haven't had time to get online, since people seem to expect me to go to work for some reason. I still say there has to be an alternative somewheere, but I can't seem to find it. (By the way, even though the cat my name comes from is a male, the one doing the actual writing is female.) I still think that is Walon's voice on the teasers, but I agree with Laura, the easiest way to solve this mystery would be to ask one of the stars.
  12. Hate to bust in here, y'all, but I was watching the first season the other day and I could just about swear that is Waylon's voice on the teasers. There's one particular tone in his voice when he says "Dukes" that I've never heard from anyone else - even when they're trying to imitate him for some reason. I can't think of any reason for it not to be him. Maybe the teasers were just recorded at a different time or place, causing it to sound a little different - like when you hear a band play on a stage with bad acoustics, you know it's them, but it just doesn't really sound like it, because you know they can do so much better. Okay, I just read back over that, and I realize that I'm not explaining what I mean real well, but I just can't seem to clarify it any more right now! I think I'm gonna just give up and head for bed - Good night, all!
  13. There's one that I can't believe nobody has mentioned yet from "Swamp Molly." "Why in the world would somebody want to blow up an outhouse?" I admit, something about the look on his face when he says it always makes me laugh!
  14. No problem, General Grant - a lot of peopel ask me about my tire cover. I even had people ask me if they could have their pictures taken beside it at Dukesfest! (I have to admit, that one kinda surprised me when I stepped out of the motel room to find people posing behind my car.) I'm not sure what kind of weather-proofing is used on it, but it seems to work pretty well. My brother-in-law tends to wash my car and make sure everything is waxed and protected for me. I hate to wash cars - my father is a real perfectionist about it, so I would rather pay someone to do it than do it myself. Johnathan is white with a dark gray interior, Sylvia and Jesse are both silver. Sylvia has a dark gray interior, and Jesse's is "cognac," just a fancy word for dark tan. It's always surprising to me how many Jeepsters there are out there. Even if they aren't driving their Jeeps at the time, you can always recognize them by the wave! (My sisters are always asking me if I know all of the people who wave to me as we pass in my car. I just tell them that they must either be fellow Jeep fans or Dukes fans!)
  15. I know what you mean about no time thanks to work, Jamanda! Stupid people seem to expect us to actually do something before they will pay us. (Don't understand it, myself:) ) My sister had a local artist that our father knows paint the tire cover. (My brother-in-law did do a little touchup work on it before we took it to Nashville for Dukesfest last year, though. Had to make sure it looked it's best!) My sisters and I have always named our cars. My Jeep is named Jesse. (Told you that I seemed to be going through a Denver Pyle phase for a while!) My oldest sister has a 2003 Mustang convertible named Sylvia, and my other sister drives a 1996 Firebird named Johnathan. (Don't ask.)
  16. I currently drive my dream car - a 2002 Jeep Wrangler. Okay, so that isn't really my dream car, but it is as close as I could get. As my father pointed out when I bought it, I said when I was five that I would have a Jeep someday - when Daisy Duke got hers - but I couldn't find a Golden Eagle. Mine is a silver Apex edition - with a custom painted General Lee tire cover (birthday gift from my sister)! If nothing else, the tire cover always gets noticed. People are always asking me where I got it. I was even stopped by a policeman once because he wanted to see about getting one for his wife!
  17. Hey, y'all! I know I haven't posted for a while, but I've been way too busy to get on the computer for myself. Anyway, I was hoping some of you could help me. As some of you may know, I've got an ongoing story at fanfiction.net told from the point of view of the various cars of Hazzard County, called "Family Album". My problem is, I seem to have a mental block for appropriate names. So far I have the General and Dixie, of course, and Jesse's truck is Jackson. The next chapter is coming from Rosco's patrol car, Lawrence - he goes by "Law" for short. (Yes, I was very tired when I started this chapter, but I thought I was really funny, at the time.) I believe that Miss Tizdale's motorcycle is going to be Garry Mae, and Cooter's tow truck will be Bertha, but I need help coming up with names for the other cars. (Enos's patrol car, Hobie's car, Cooter's other car) Any assistance would be greatly appriciated, and of course, I will give all who offer suggestions credit in the story. Thanks, Wendy and Denny
  18. Welcome! Luke had always been my favorite Duke boy, too. I've met Tom Wopat twice, now, and he seems to be a really nice guy. (Doesn't hurt that he's still good looking, either!)
  19. Thanks for the warm welcome, y'all. As soon as I can get this stupid new computer to accept my scanner, I intend to get a picture of Denny up, probably as my avatar, but I'm not sure.
  20. My name is Wendy. The real Denver C is my cat , Denver Coletrane - a black and white manx, named, of course, after two of the greatest residents of Hazzard county! He has followed them around the screen more than any other characters since the day I got him. He always comes running when he hears the theme song, and will not move until the show is over.(What can I say, he has good taste!) Denver is also my screen name for my fanfiction postings. I figure if he's going to be in my lap the entire time I'm on the computer, he might as well get a mention somewhere. Anyway, enough about us. Denny and I are both looking forwars to meeting everybody here.
