  1. I've been wanting to go see the sites where the "original show" was filmed in GA and started google searching. I came across this. http://members.cox.net/duchy78/ I can't wait to go down there and see it for myself!!
  2. SEASON 1, 1st five 5 in GA Boss: "Rosco, you better get creative, OR. YOU. WILL BE...." Rosco: "The night watchmen @ the drive-in delli on Frontage Rd"!
  3. Season 1, the 1st five episodes filmed in GA are the ONLY shows I recognize! There is NO COMARISON to the others after the GA shows!!
  4. I was 7 years old when the show 1st aired in '79. I loved Smokey & The Bandit "original movie" but hadn't seen it & that age yet. This show was the best thing since catfish and hush-puppies for S&B fans on a weekly basis. The 1st 5 episodes are the only shows that I recognize. When they moved it to Hollywood it just went down hill from there on. I'll give them credit & 1st they tried to @ least make a effort for 1 or 2 shows for it to appear to be Georgia or a "real town" with paved roads, etc but the plot changed, from what I remember they picked up new writers, producers, etc. based on behind the scenes specials about the show. James Best even called the CA set a "sess-pool" as he hated it as well. You just can beat the shows that was filmed in GA. Quality story lines, real town with a multi-officer Sherriffs Dept, Rosco wasn't: P. Coltrane, he wasn't as ignorant, the background music was GREAT, along with the chase scenes, the cars they used, the locations they filmed, story lines, etc! Most people think of the show as that ignorant Hollywood set, dirt roads, only 2 lawmen and ignorant story lines but I remember a BETTER TIME. I just hate the way they messed-up a good show. I honestly don't see how it lasted as long as it did. It simply would have done BETTER had they left it in GA and the story lines the way it started out. I loved in the previews the tune that played that started out showing the guitar be played...... in the ORIGINAL GA shows!!! Now as I look on the internet, I've NEVER seen 1 GL replica that looks like the original 1st 5 episodes. It had the flags on the rear deck in front of the CB antenna, a dark brown or black interior, head rest on the seats in the up position, and to refer again to the 1st episode again chrome trim along the bottom of the car from wheel-well to wheel-well and a REAL roll cage with front hoop! I honestly think that was only 1 car and was the "original GL" as that is mostly all you saw in the 1st show, then @ the end they used it for that jump scene which was attached to the end of the theme song thru-out the show. Also the front push-bar is suppose to be small NOT that big thing!! What ever happened to Sweet-Tilly, Jessies moonshine running black Ford LTD?? What happened to all the deputies on the Sherriffs Dept? What happend to the boys probabtion officer, that hot looking chic? The list goes on and on!! This are things I just had to express, I don't know if anyone has ever discussed these things before but it's been bugging me to get it out on a public forum. This is my 1st post and 1st time to ever visit this site! I watched the 1st 5 episodes the other day and compared to the "others" as they was playing on CMT and it just sadend me sssooo that I had to vent. If I had more time i'd cover more things but i've got a LOT of work to do. It's nice to have a place to vent and discuss this.
