Wanted to let you guys know that I found a new Collier & Co. - Hot Pursuit 2 Disc DVD at our local Rite Aid Pharmacy for $4.99! Yes $4.99! I couldn't believe it. I almost feel like I should mail John some money. Watched the special features disc last night and going to watch the movie tonight. Don't know if Mr. Schneider realizes it is being so so cheap, but I didn't think twice about grabbing it.

Just wanted everyone to know that as opposed to the 2005 movies as I was, and as bad as it turned out to be in every aspect, I actually enjoyed the toned down version of this movie on ABC Family. However, I'm not sure I'd watch the full version on DVD. There were several instances that jarred me a little, like Lulu and the turkey, well Lulu and everything she did was over the top for me. Nevertheless, I thought it was a fair twist on the old series. It wasn't the same, but it picked up on some of the old elements from the show. It did have a "heart" to it I think. I certainly felt more of a family connection between the characters this time even if they tweaked the storyline a bit on how they came together. It's understandable that they weren't able to do as much with the General this time around. It was a lower budget movie and they had to do what they could with the money they had, and I'm sure we all know how much 69 Dodge Chargers are going for these days and how much it is to maintain them. Plus they're aren't as many around as there were in 1978, when they were only 9 years old. I'm driving a 1997 Ranger, and it's 10 years old. I'm sure in 29 years there won't be as many 1997 Rangers driving around as there are now. Anyway, for what it was, it was a fun movie. Yes, too much sex. AND, I know people like to say, well we live in 2007 and things change, BUT morallity doesn't change or shouldn't change. What's wrong in 1978, is wrong now. Dukes was edgey in it's day. I think it speaks badly of our society today that our level of "edey" has been lowered so far that people don't see that it's wrong. I'm a Christian. I believe in living a life that shows God through me. It's wrong for me to say that I agree with everything that goes on in movies, tv and the media. I don't. That stuff just shouldn't happen, but it's the world I live in. I don't believe in judging people, but I don't have to agree with what they do, and I don't agree with a lot of what I see in society. I hope that people realize that the origianl Dukes had a lot of the same beliefs that alot of people like me have. We believe in God, obeying God, being morally and ethicly responsible, loving people, caring for each other above all else, and doing what is right. That's the "heart" that was in the old Dukes and I hope people never forget that. I'm not perfect and no one is, and in saying that maybe I shouldn't have ejoyed the movie because of all the stuff that shouldn't have been in there, but I did and I have to live with it.

Obviously you didn't look close enough. Bo and Luke are standing on the drivers side of the General and the lettering is behind them. If you look close you can see a little bit of lettering between their shoulders. I have no idea of what you mean about a black flag??? The flag's cross or "x" is a dark blue that, from the age of the guys looks like the picture was taken from one of the earlier General Lees and the blue paint used was fairly dark, but I'm guessing that it just looks black because of that. You make it sound from your post that they blacked out the Confederate flag and took of the lettering, but that's not the case at all. Just needed to look a little closer. I remeber that kid from other shows in the 80's and that wasn't his voice. As well as I can remember, he had kind of a redneckish voice, which I think would have suited him better in this episode. I know for sure that the voice isn't his and it's one of those things that is really obvious and it bugs me too.

That's because they didn't always air the episodes in the order they were filmed. For instance, there are also epidsodes I think where Enos is in Hazzard after he had already left for California.

I think bluegrass music would have set the tone of the movie more like it should have. I'm voting for Flatts and Scruggs - Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

I saw that today too and laughed my butt off. I would vote for it in every category. I hope it wins for worst movie most of all.

My problem with a sequal is what's the point??? What else is there to do with this movie? I consider the movie a stand alone thing because it didn't have anything to do with the original so why make another attempt. They didn't respect the original the first time so why wish for another disrespectful movie. England??? Why Dukes in England??? I can only imagine the "warm" welcome Europeans would give to these idiots. Sure, give the Europeans another reason to think we're all backward selfindulgent selfcentric power hungry jackasses with these fine examples of character we were shown in this truely amazing example of excellent American good ol' idiots movie. I can't think of anything better to pride ourselves in or wish for. Maybe you people should really think about what it is that you want in a movie. If you're really a fan of the Dukes of Hazzard, do you really want to tarnish it anymore?

Flash was both a girl and a boy. I believe the first Flash died at some point(the boy) and was later replaced by the girl Flash. Somewhere I saw James Best talk about it. I think that they were his dogs in real life as well.

Ok. First of all, I'm sick. I'm sick of this movie. I'm sick of people who now think this lame excuse for a movie is the Dukes of Hazzard and I'm sick of what this stupid movie has done to the image of the Dukes of Hazzard. At this point I think if you enjoyed this movie, you shouldn't have. You should feel ashamed for the way they treated the Dukes. I don't understand how anyone can just stand by and let someone tarnish and mock something you really care about and personally, I really care about this show. I know this post is going to get major response from those of you out there that think this movie is the best thing since cheese in a can, but at the same time I want to hear from those of you who feel about this movie maybe the same as I do. I've loved this show since I can remember. I'm 27 years old now and some of my first memories are of the Dukes of Hazzard and the General Lee. The first toys I remember getting for Christmas was my little General Lee cars. So, you can see that it has really impacted my life. There are just somethings in life that you don't mess with. There are some things that don't need to be redone or reimagined or "improved". I feel strongly that the original Dukes is one of those things. It wasn't broke and they didn't need to fix it. It didn't need to be revamped for today's generation. Today's generation was already falling in love with it on CMT. I remember how popular it was when it came back on TNN also. The Dukes of Hazzard is just one of those timeless classics that you should just take it as it is and be thankful. Honestly it's a pretty lame excuse to say how wonderful it was to see the General Lee again. I watched this trashy film and if you can show me something so extrordinary that they did with the General Lee on this movie that they didn't pull of ten times better on the show 28 years ago I'll be amazed. Most of the Stunts on this movie weren't done by stunt drivers. I watched Cory Eubanks at Dukesfest this year jump a General Lee over a parked truck and you tell me it's too dangerous to do that on a movie? Oh yeah, and wow, you can put the General into a controlled slide around a big turn! BIG DEAL. Give me a break. So here it is, your chance to step on my toes and give me valid reasons for why this movie is so much better than the original. Give me valid reasons to why they needed to make it and valid reasons why people who loved the original shouldn't be upset over it. Like wise, here is the opportunity for those of you who feel the same as me to show support for the original Dukes of Hazzard and for what it stood for. Afterall, isn't this the USA and hasn't God blessed us with the ability to express our opinions and beliefs?

Hey everyone. How long do you think it will take for the new movie to find it way into the Wal-Mart 5 buck bin? I hope that's where it ends up because I don't think it deserves a spot on any shelf.

If you think about it, how many times do you remember Luke jumping the General? I can't think of any off hand, but I assume he did. It just really seems that Bo always jumped the General, drove the best and that's who fans really want to see behind the wheel.

When I rented the movie and watched it for the first time I noticed the The General in the background too. I wondered if anyone else had. It really didn't surprise me. They didn't care about the rest of the movie so why worry about not filming things that shouldn't be there.

Out of all this discussion, I think what this all boils down to is "moral character". If you have that you understand why the change for the movie was bad. You understand that the original show was based on family values and moral judgment. You understand that the Duke family stood for what was right and by right I mean what was the moral thing to do. The tv show took the direction it did because of the audiance that it attracted and that was the millions of families that crouded around the TV every Friday night to watch Bo, Luke and the General outrun Roscoe, Enos and Boss. I believe with all my heart that the actors realized who watched their show and even though critics didn't like it and even Warner Bro's didn't like it, they were all proved wrong by us, the fans, the kids, the moms and dads, uncles and aunts, grandpas and grandmas, whites, blacks, asians, europeans, russians, japanese and whoever watched and still watches the original show. Every person who really got what this show was about is the reason why it's still so popular today. Obviously there are those of you who don't really get what this show is about and that's why you support this film and franlkly it's sad that you have to be spoon-fed your entertainment choices. There are a million movies like this new "Dukes" movie. I don't even like calling it that. Show me something in this movie that you haven't seen in a movie before? Now, take the original Dukes of Hazzard and show me another show like that? Give me another example of high flying fast family fun where a whole family can sit down and share in the enjoyment of the TRUE spirit of the Dukes of Hazzard. They sure didn't accomplish that in the new movie. I wouldn't let any child watch that. I had a hard time sitting through it. My wife wouldn't watch it because of the language. It only take a few people like those of you who support something like this to ruin a good thing for a lot of people and that's what has happened here. They ruined the movie. Thank God they can't touch the show because it is what it is and will always be that. I claim a part of the Dukes of Hazzard. It is a part of who I am and there is no part of that movie that I claim or want a part of. Hollywood is a minority. They made this film for themselves. They made this film to make money. They made this film to milk as much money as they could on something they really have no true intrest in. They don't care about the Dukes of Hazzard. They don't care about anything but ticket sales and DVD sales. If it were the opposite, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. In contrast, take Dukesfest for example. Sure, you have to pay to get in. You pay a lot for souveniers and stuff like that. You have to face the fact that it takes a lot of money to put on something like that. BUT, I truely feel that they do it because they care about what we want as fans. They want to extend a handshake to those of us who gave them the opportunity to have the careers that they have. They want to say thank you by giving back a little of their time so that we can enjoy the memories we had growing up with them on our TV sets every Friday. They recognize that as fans we see them as part of our family and they embrace that fact. Those of us who love this show as it was and as it is are all a part of Hazzard County and I thank them for letting us be a part of that as well. Don't let Hollywood tell you what to like. Don't let Hollywood spoon-fead you trash. Be true to the real reason we had this movie, the reason we are writing on this webpage, the reason we buy DVDs of the complete seasons, video games, t-shirts, die-cast cars, and all the other stuff we have bought for almost 25 years. Be true to the Dukes of Hazzard and it will be true to you.

Your statement explains why so many of us feel the way we do about the movie. If you thought it was "Moonrunners 2005" since it came out, then maybe they should have called it that. Honestly, if you think about it, it seems redundant to make a movie based on a tv show that was based on a movie. It seems to me, Warner Bro's should have just made this film 25 years ago and then made the tv show because they really just went about it the wrong way. We all know that couldn't have happened though, but it does make more sense. Sure, the Dukes was based loosely on the Moonrunners movie, but I think it's an improvement otherwise it wouldn't have been so much more popular than the movie. No one outside of the Hazzard community and probably a lot within don't even know the Dukes was based on that movie. So, to me it doesn't make sense to step backwards in the new Dukes movie to try and bring it into the present world.

I don't understand why it is so hard for some people to realize that when you use a subject as a base for a new project, be it a tv show, movie, whatever.....you shouldn't jump so far off center of the original subject that the new project doesn't reflect any resemblance of the original. If an automobile maker, such as Dodge, tried to make a popular car like the Viper into a less expensive model that was front wheel drive, had 4 doors and looked alot like a minivan, they didn't stay true to the original and just because they might call it a Dodge Viper, have they really made the right decision? This movie by itself might be a good movie. They didn't really need to call it the Dukes of Hazzard. Personally I think they should have called it Jerry Springer's American Jackass: Hillbillies Gone Wild. I don't care how you justify liking this disrespectful movie, it's not the Dukes of Hazzard.

I broke down yesterday and spent $2.50 to rent the new"Dukes" movie. First of all, two minutes into the show my wife began to really not like it. Ten minutes into it, she stopped watching and went into the other room to watch tv. I probably should have taken her advice and turned it off as well, but I decided that I'd already spent the rental fee and I was going to finish it. I really wanted to give this movie a chance. I thought maybe my first impressions might have been misplaced and I really just need to give the movie a shot, but I was severely dissappointed. Not only is this movie NOT the Dukes of Hazzard, if it didn't have the General Lee(if you can call it that in this movie), it wouldn't resemble the Dukes in any way shape or form. There was no charm to this movie at all. You can call cow poop fertilizer maybe to make it sound a little better, but when it comes down to it, it's still cow poop. I will not own this movie and I will not recommend it to anyone else. Sorry for those of you who loved it, but really ask yourself if it's really worth having a movie called the Dukes of Hazzard if all they really ended up doing was trash the orginal. Is it really worth seeing characters you grew up loving treated with such disrespect? It honestly pained me to see Willie Nelson talk like that as Uncle Jesse. I really don't want to beat a dead horse, but please consider my point of view. Do any of you really believe this has helped the Dukes of Hazzard in any way? I didn't see one thing in this movie that set it above the original. The simple fact that half of the stunts were sling shot effects cheapened it that much more. Big deal if they did some drifting around a circle. That doesn't hold a candle to the stuff they pulled off on the original show. I will admit it did have some good camera work around the car. I really just wish they would have called this movie something else. The great thing about this movie is though that it's made me love the original even more. Honestly, when I really think about it, I'm glad I watched to new movie. It's made me appreciate just how much I truely love the original show. It's given me a greater sense of pride that I am an origianl fan that grew up on what this movie tried to be and failded miserably at. I can watch John and Tom and say thank God they didn't act like "Jackass" and "Stifler". I can watch Uncle Jesse be the true patriarch and moral authority of his family that he is. I can laugh at the bumbling antics of a childish sheriff and county commisoner with a lighthearted spirit knowing that deep down, they are really good people. I can watch the General Lee with pride because of what hereally stands for and was made for. Unlike the movie version that for whatever reason, the General Lee just happened by accident. These are the great things that I'm proud of as a fan of the original Dukes of Hazzard and they are no where to be found in this movie and it's truely sad and unfortunate.

Well, I didn't realize when I started this topic it would generate so much controversy, but I can see that it has. In general, I think if you have an opinion, as most of us do, you have the right to express it. My opinion on the new movie is that it's not "my" Dukes of Hazzard. I think for each of us, the Dukes is a show that we all take something a little different away from it. I see the Dukes as a family show. I see it as a show with true morals and loyalty to ideals. I think it's ideals like this that are often overlooked in our society today, maybe just because the people in high places want to pinch a few more dollars out of something like this show that they didn't even think would make it in the first place. Warner Brothers didn't believe in the show when it first started. The critics hated it. So, it took fans like us who were loyal and cared about the show to really keep it going as long as it did. I truely believe that the Dukes of Hazzard is an example of something missing in our world on a large scale today. Stand for what you believe in. Stand for your family. Stand for your morals and beliefs. I believe that's what I did when I asked people not to buy this dvd. I haven't seen the movie, but I would guess that they never mentioned God or morals in it. I am a Christian and it means a lot to me when I can watch a show like the Dukes and know that at times they speak about God from time to time. They say grace before their meals on most occasions and speak about the Lord and praying. I'm sure they probably didn't do that on the new movie. To me what they did would be like redoing the Andy Griffith show and giving Andy a gun and making Otis a drug addict. Sure, you could call it the Andy Griffith Show, but what's the point? What's the point of making a movie based on a TV show if you don't stay true to the TV show? I'm not saying make a carbon copy like some of you have said that's what we asked for. We didn't. I don't believe Warner Brothers asked anyone anything to begin with, so that doesn't really even matter. I think if they had, we would have told them to at least stay true to the central themes that run throughout the show. I don't think that's a lot to ask for. Just because you CAN make a movie, doesn't always mean that you SHOULD. I don't think they SHOULD have gave this movie the Dukes of Hazzard title. I may offend people who loved the movie, and that's ok. All I'm doing is giving my opinion and maybe I've got the same opinion as others, and maybe I don't. Either way, I'm not trying to make people mad or start a shouting name calling match. I just hoped to get some differing opinions. I knew there would be those of you who would be upset about me asking people not to support the movie. I just didn't think it would get to the point of namecalling. That's not necessary in any form when it comes to expressing opinions. We all have different ones.

I'm just going to flat out and say it. If you are a TRUE Dukes fan, don't buy this DVD. Who wants this farse of a movie to get any more money than it already has. We've all spoke our peace here and I think the consensus is that the movie isn't what we as TRUE Dukes fans wanted and we don't want them to make anymore like this. The best way for this to happen is if we don't support the DVD. I think we should push to have the TV Reunion movies released on DVD instead.

For one thing, I refused to watch the movie. I didn't want a bad taste in my mouth when I think of the Dukes of Hazzard. I choose to remember the Dukes for what it was and what it meant to me when I was young. Afterall, isn't that what makes it great? It's not a show that most people remember as anything but what it was and it was a good, clean family show. Why ruin that? People don't look back on the Dukes and think about pollitics, controversy, or anything else that was going wrong in the late 70's and 80's. We look back and think of how much fun we had and the entertainment it brought to us who loved it when it was new. The Dukes doesn't capture a period of time in history like shows such as Andy Griffith or Leave it to Beaver. Shows like that are somewhat of an outdated glimpse of what life was like back then to a certain extent and probably a little exagerated. The Dukes is more of a reflection of an ideal, a spirit or way of life rather than a period of time. It was the spirit that they stood for something and to me that's an idea that's never outdated. They believed in morals, family, God and each other. That's how I choose to remember the Dukes. That's why I don't care to see the movie. To me, just being able to see the General fly again wasn't enough. Without morals, family, God and each other, the General is only running on 6 cylinders. For what it is, the movie may be an ok film. But it's NOT the Dukes of Hazzard. Smallville proved that to me last night. Smallville isn't the Dukes either, but for a few minutes, I was back in "Hazzard County" and it was great. I enjoyed every second. Some people really believe it was the General that made the show, and to an extent it had a lot to do with the popularity, but honestly, does anyone else other than John and Tom fit behind the wheel of that Charger? No. Coy and Vance proved that back then and for the sake of trying to milk as much money as they can out of the how we feel about the TRUE Dukes of Hazzard, they tried to do it again without our heros. TRUE Dukes fans are a family. We're all Dukes cousins. That's what made the show special and that's why just anything dressed in "Dukes" clothing doesn't make it special. You can't replace your childhood heros and why bother trying? Thank you Smallville for a little spirit of the TRUE Dukes of Hazzard.
