  1. I'm sorry but I just have to say that I am sick and tired of the acting in the movie being trashed in comparrison to the TV show. Do you people have eyes and ears? John, Tom & Cathy could barely act. (Back couldn't act at all) I don't like Jessica and Cathy is a sweetheart and twice as beautiful but Jessica delivered her lines much much better. If you think this movie was a spoof and not a tribute/origional take you are hopeless. Also the plot was crystal clear and very very Dukes. In fact it was better than the TV show because it was logical. I love the Dukes. Watched them from 79-85 and grew up on a farm with a cousin down the road. The movie was better than the TV show in just about everyway possible (would have loved to have Sorrel Booke back but unfortunatly he is no longer with us-the rest of the TV cast can stay home).

  3. I posted this in another forum but it bears repeating here! Umm-no offense-but some of you people just don't get it. Just because an actor or director has played one kind of character or done one style of film does not mean they will play that character or do that style of film everytime. (Spielberg-ET, Shindler's List, Jaws, 1941) And let's be honest-despite the stupidity of some of their more recent work both Knoxville and Scott are better actors than Wopat and Schnieder. Schnieder is good on Smallville and I love his character (my dad is that kind of upright farmer) but he is one of the weaker acting links in that show (very one dimentional) and his acting has improved since DOH. I'll even throw in that while Cathrine Bach was a 1000 times better looking than Jessica Simpson could ever hope to be the lines Jessica delivers in the trailer are better done than any delivered by Bach on the origional show. She was the weakest actor in the origional DOH. The only truely good acters were Soral Booke, James Best and Denver Pyle. Now if those guys (God Rest two of their sweet souls) could be cast in the movie that would be awsome but Wopat and Schnieder are not up to the challenge of the big screen. Cooter and Enos were bit parts heavily typecast so they were always good as well. As far as the script is concerned bad writing was one of the major complaints of the origional cast. The movie script will probably be better than the origional shows. It would be hard for it not to be. I grew up on the Dukes. I grew up on a farm with a cousin down the road. I loved the Dukes (still do). In many ways we were the Dukes. What was special about DOH was the fun, slightly irreverent, good ol' boy spirit of the show. The sun always shines in Hazzard County. Even the bad guys were your friends when it came down to it. From what I can see the cast and crew of the new film have captured that spirit and have probably improved upon a poorly written TV show in which half the actors were mediocre at best. I realize one trailer is not much to go on but I have high hopes from what I have seen so far. I'm sure many of you will hate what I have written but these angry threads are tiresome and a little nieve.
  4. I swear you people are impossible. No-it's not the greatest movie poster of all time but it's not that bad either. You need to get over Simpson. No matter who played Daisy you knew she was going to be on top of that car just like Cathrine Bach is in 90% of the photos from the orgional show. In fact this poster is far more modest than the Bach pics. The car color is accurate. Also a web based photo is not going to accuartly display colors anyway (close approximation is the best you get). Of course facts seem to mean little to the people on these forums who are bent on trashing this movie not matter what it may actually be like. Also the Dukes were "Thrillbillies"! I think that is a great tag line and nothing to be offended by. The angle of the car could be better and they chickened out by putting and 01 on the front liscense instead of the Southern Cross but you guys and your baseless negativity are really tiersome.
  5. I think you guys are way off on thinking the new movie will make Bo and Luke into Baffoons. Bo was never to quick on the uptake to begin with. And as far as the origional being cool--only because I was 5 or 6. The General was is and always will be cool but the Duke boys (and I love em) were always a bit Cheezy.

  7. Guys I love DOH and all but it wasn't very well written. All the cast members complained about that. I mean the writing did not carry the show it was how fun it was. It never rains in Hazzard County. Anyway the last thing they should do is bring in one of the origional writers-most of them are probably not writing anymore.
  8. I also wanted to reply to the problems people have with the Led Zeplin T-Shirt. My cousin and I grew up together on farms out in the middle of nowhere. He was more of a car guy than I was--he restored a 72 step side pick-up and drag raced a bit. We grew up watching and pretending to be the Dukes. He and I were the Dukes in many ways and he loved Zeplin. The T-Shirt is not out of place for a modern day presentation of the Dukes. If they had done this movie exactly like the TV show-which is what I gather some of you want-it would have sucked. Movies are just a different format than tv and it's been 20 years.
  9. After watchig the trailer a couple of times I think those of you who are knocking the movie may be forgetting something--the first four or five episodes of DOH (the Covington GA, shows). They were much edgier (like the trailor) than the rest of the episodes. They were much more of what the creators had in mind. Hollywood stepped in once the show was a hit and actually watered it down. And as far as Bo being dumb-seriously have you ever seen an episode of the Dukes? Bo was dumb. I guess my impression was that they captured the spirit of the show dead on. The one thing I fear is that Jesse will not provide a moral center, which in my mind is key and I would prefer Boss be short and fat but can certainly live with Burt.
