  1. I just watched a 2019 episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls where he takes celebrities out into survival situations. This one had actor/comedian Joel McHale. At the beginning McHale jumped into the open window of a wrecker, prompting Bear to mention him being a Dukes of Hazzard fan. Joel responded by mentioning Boss Hogg.....it's always fun to hear Dukes mentioned when not expecting it.

It doesn't look like anybody noticed but I was a day early on Bo's birthday. Today is the day he turns 61.

  4. Hmmm, around my neck of the woods a bugger could be just about anything. If you lost your wrench "Now where is that bugger?". If a puppy was cute "That's a cute little bugger". If you got a splinter "I need to get that bugger out." Speaking of puppies, we're getting ours today....haven't had a dog in 5 years.

  7. I enjoyed yesterday's race - I wish they had another couple of road courses like that on the calendar. It was also good to see that the person doing the lap-by-lap coverage at NASCAR.com has been reading my posts and learned the difference between "break issues" and "brake issues" . Danica was not only in her backup car yesterday, she also started at the back due to an engine change. She was making steady progress through the field when she hit debris from the crash. She's also had some good qualifying performances this year. Like Garrett has said in previous posts, she was probably thrown into the Sprint Cup a little early, but I think she's getting better and more consistent. Let's face it, it took AJ Allmendinger 213 starts over eight years to get his first Sprint Cup win yesterday.

  8. She's always at the center of a wreck or some sort of trouble! She needs to go! Maybe to Powder Puff???

  9. Why is it that Danica Patrick is never in the lead or even close to the front in wins or points? She's ALWAYS way down on the list! ....Just sayin'!!

  10. Congratulations Garrett, you finally got the result you wanted. I watched/listened to the whole race, and you didn't miss much at the start. At least two of the early cautions were for cars losing grip and spinning out on their own - I'm not sure why they need to throw a caution when there's no contact, no debris and the car that spun is safely out of the way on the apron. After last week, I was hoping for a better result from Ricky, but he stayed in the 20s for most of the race and just missed out on getting the lucky dog a couple of times. He did, however, do a great job avoiding the spinning AJ Allmendinger. When David Gilliland's car caught fire, one of the commentators said "And that is unbelievable ... crash". We all know that the phrase he was looking for was "What a horrendous crash!"

Another hijack of the thread for a belated tribute. On March 16th we lost German racing driver Sabine Schmitz after a four year battle with cancer. She was just 51. Despite having a successful racing career, it was her first appearance on 'Top Gear' that brought the "Queen of the Nürburgring" to a worldwide audience. The Nürburgring is a 12.9 mile track with 147 corners that's located in the middle of a German forest. Sabine was born there and knew the track better than anyone. Here's the Top Gear Special tribute which aired last night. It includes contributions from TG presenters old and new as well as a variety of people from the world of motorsport.
